1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work on modern computers, December 18, 2007

As noted on another listing for this product, this game has issues on modern computers. It worked fine when issued, but it is designed for Windows 95/98. We have tried it on five modern computers and it does not work on any of them. My wife is a computer expert and has tried fooling around with it but still cannot get it to work. Unless you have an old system, my recommendation is to not buy it.

I wish the company would update this software -- our kids loved it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A few flaws, but a GREAT game..., December 28, 2004
A Kid's Review
This is a rare game. I'm not saying that it would cost a lot or anything like that, but it's oldish and pretty hard to find. I have it, and i got it when i was--oh, 4. The rating on the disc is 5-10, but i don't have to worry about that anymore. This game is very entertaining, but can sometimes get on your nerves. For instance, the "host" of the game is a pig named Penelope who's wearing lipstick and a necklace. She tells you wierd things like, "That's the greatest horse i've ever seen! Wow!" when you're making the most HORRIBLE horse you've ever seen. Also, she talks so much about fashion for the horses, and when you roll over a horse in the valley to pick one, she says what it is. The most helpful thing to do about all her talking is put your computer on mute. That is a minor flaw. A BIG flaw is when you take a picture of your horse and go to the gallery to write a long and beautiful story about it on the computer "notebooks" they provide. After you have finished your wonderful story, and decided to take paint 'n play pony out, you won't know that it erases all your wonderful stories automatically. Then when you put it back in, you see that none of your stories are there. Another thing about that is sometimes the computer freezes and paint 'n play pony freezes right when you're trying to print out a great story on it. Then, you have to do esc and all kinds of things and soon the program shuts off. Then, when you put paint 'n play pony back in, your story's gone. That only happens sometimes, though.
There are good things too.
1. You can raise your own pony and give it milk in a bottle and make it a foal, yearling or adult in the STABLE.
2. You can change the color of the horse's body to almost anything.
3. You can draw with Crayola crayons on the computer. You can do it on your horse's body, ears, SHORT mane, or tail. And if it's a unicorn, you can draw on the wings and horn too.
4. You can learn about amazing different horses.
5. You can write and print great stories.
6. You can feed, wash and groom--in the STABLE.
7. You can print and create crafts.
8. You can cut and style the horse's hair.
9. You can dress up your horse in fashion.
10. You can put a border around your picture.
11. You can add a background.
12. You can add little moving animals such as cat, butterfly, lizard, mouse, bunny and more.
13. You can add a foal or colt and color on them with "Crayola Crayons" too.
14. You can also READ great horse stories. Written by Penelope, though. There's one that's just all about her, so beware! : ) : )
Overall, i would rate it 4 stars because it has a few flaws and has some pretty cool things to do in it. Sometimes it can get boring, though, if you play it for a long time.
P.S. This game is for girls only!!!
