![]() This interactive DVD coloring set allows your children to watch stories while they color along. View larger. |
As the DVD progresses, children can color along in the book. Much like an interactive children's cartoon, the characters break down the fourth wall and talk to children, asking them questions about the scenes they are coloring. They invite children to participate in activities, ranging from coloring tasks to connect-the-dots. These activities are educational as well as engaging, and will teach your kids valuable skills like pattern recognition and matching. It never gets too instructive, though, and keeps the emphasis on creativity and fun.
Color, Listen to Stories -- or Do Both
Whether they enjoy storytelling or are more hands-on, kids will enjoy Crayola Underwater Adventures. The DVD comes with three different stories: "Jerome the Jellyfish," "Pedro's Big Day," and "Mystery of the Sunken Treasure." The stories run at a slow pace, but the activity instructions may be too elaborate for younger children to understand. Still, kids in the right age range will enjoy engaging with the dozens of activities that come with each story. There's also an optional "shuffle" mode, which randomly sorts the activities and helps keep things fresh.
The included coloring books have many pages, and can occupy kids for hours. Once they've exhausted the pages, parents can visit the Crayola web site and print out additional coloring pages and activities. The set also includes three packs of standard, 8-count Crayola crayons.
What's in the Box
DVD, three 8-count crayon boxes, and three coloring books.

This is not a long standing play type of game. Once you have played the two scenes and colored the pages, you're done. The story is cute. It's odd because you are somewhat rushed to color the pictures and yet the story is so simple. Guess you could say it's fun to have for an afternoon visit with Grandma or a rainy day but then you can't do much more with it once you've finished coloring.
wouldn't pay too much for it.

This little game is so much fun for my granddaughters. My 4 year old is having such a great time helping her little 2 year old sister learn matching. I'm so happy I purchased this for them for Christmas. D Russell NC
