Crazy Editing,
By
This review is from: Crazy Babe (Hardcover)
Coulter doesn't consider himself a photographer, although he definitely has a gift. His images are highly erotic while not overtly glamorous. As a matter of fact, this could have been titled "White Trash Diva" except not all of his models are strictly caucasian. It's essense is, however, raw in an explicit way that is nevertheless enticing. The book is divided by model and some photos are stunning while others should have been on the cutting room floor. But, I was not disappointed and the price was appropriate. Overall a good addition to my collection.

I'm not one to find joy in giving books negative reviews, so I'll say right up front that "Crazy Babe" is not necessarily a "bad" book. Though I see that many readers found this book to be fantastic, the 2-star rating reflects my tastes as well as my caution to those who may be taken aback by explicit nude photographs.
As an admirer of fine photography of the human form, I'm spoiled by artists such as Newton, Schatz, Demarchelier and Bensimon, to name a few, who take such beautiful photos of the female figure that almost anyone would marvel over them. In "Crazy Babe," photographer Bob Coulter has put together a collection of images that, while having some artistic merit, have left the realm of creativity/originality and are knocking at the door of pornography (not all, but most of them). Fifteen different models are portrayed in approximately 350 photos (all digital, I believe). Each image is the size of a large postcard, one per page. The photographic quality is excellent: sharp exposure, good lighting and vibrant color. The book is also put together well in terms of paper quality and binding. Some images were decently constructed; however, far too many were taken either from an odd angle or too close up, which resulted in a distorted perspective. As for the majority of photos, which were autoerotic or just plain in-your-face, one could take it or leave it. For me, the overall vibe from "Crazy Babe" was not positive. Though these "babes" may be both crazy and nude, I didn't consider many of their pictures attractive or alluring. Much more beautiful (and artistic) photos of nude women can easily be found elsewhere

The photos are beautiful and the models are sexy. There are a number of photos that are more pornograpic than artistic but there are some very erotic artistic jorneys as well.

Very good book,

Lots of pages, great quality. There isn't any one particular showcasing in this book that you can point your finger to and say ''Oh yeah, heres the theme.'' This book is more of a compendium of sorts. All sorts of models, all sorts of poses, all sorts of themes. Very good mix. And I'm serious - LOTS of pages. Well worth the cash. Some of the stuff is stylish, and some of it is just plain smutty. It's all done with taste, though. Go ahead and get this one.

A Nice BIG Book of Female Nudes,
This review is from: Crazy Babe (Hardcover)
Crazy Babe is the first published collection of Bob Coulter's female nudes. The girls are all professional models and some are even actresses. And though each is willing to show "it all" none are really "crazy" Bob says. "It's easier to work with sane people who can feign craziness - they're more likely to show up." Crazy or not, Coulter does manage to squeeze every ounce of beauty from each of his lovely subjects in the 300+ portraits featured here. Shot in hotel rooms, bathrooms, railroad tracks, parks, and various other locations, the girls dance around Coulter's Nikon with ease and joy, reveling in their naked beauty. And that's what makes this such a pleasurable experience.

dynOmite!!,

Electrifying- Bob Coulter marries the world of high fashion photography and the world of erotica in an unprecedented union. This is one of the coolest coffee table books I've seen. Coulter has an amazing eye reminiscent of fashion giant Terry Richardson. And yet his style remains his own. His shots are hot, edgy, gritty, fresh-his angles, backdrops, colors, props. Each spread brings something new, yet maintains the Coulter stamp. Some represent strong heroines in charge of their sexuality, others depict vunerable lolitas. Are they being exploited? Or do they like it? Yeah- they like it. My favorite spread is the one at the Maklaryn-those are so cool, worthy of any Euro fashion mag. If you don't snap up this piece of visual fantasma, you're crazy, babe.

Clockwork Crazybabe!,
By Greg Corlew (Jackson, Tn. USA) - See all my reviews

I just got this book last night and all I can say is Wow. What a beautiful piece of work! Bob Coulter is my hero. Hefner should be kissing [him]! Crazybabe is my newest favorite "vice purchase". His style is wonderful. The use of backgrounds are perfect, the models are beautiful and the poses and camera placements could not be better. I see his style as Clockwork Orange meets 9-1/2 Weeks. I have been taking pictures since I was a kid and his shots grabbed my eye the first time I saw them. Bob, (if you're out there) if you ever need help with lighting or cargo or if you ever want to do any shots around the Memphis (Graceland) or Nashville area I am here for ya! Gc~

THE TITLE PULLED ME IN; BUT IT WAS THE PICTURES THAT MADE ME WANT TO STAY!,
By
This review is from: Crazy Babe (Hardcover)
How can you resist a title like this? CRAZY BABE, I love the fact that the photographer points out that these girls aren't actually "crazy," they are sane girls that feign craziness. (Aren't they all?) Yes, but the girls I know can scare you blue, if they feel the need. Its all in the role, man... these girls know how to bend, and this guy BOB COULTER knows how to catch them when they bend. These are some awesome pictures; very well done ladies;very well done Mr. Colter.

Misjudged book,
By
This review is from: Crazy Babe (Hardcover)
While some people find this book pornographic I found it very interesting. It is most certainly a help to see the angles artists do their photos at. It's apparent the man has a talented eye and great ideas for posing his models. And no, this is not a pornographic book, just because you can see a woman's vagina doesn't make it porno.
