Editorial Reviews

“An exciting story [and] a wonderful read!”
—Fresh Fiction on Bad Blood

“Delightful. A clever mix of Janet Evanovich and Rick Riordan.”
—Long and Short Reviews on Bad Blood

“Perfect for teens and adults, this is a book to share, savor and revisit. ReVamped is full of smart, spot-on dialogue, engaging, authentic characters and a plot that’s so much fun it’s impossible not get swept up.”

Book Description

Latter-Day Olympians, Book 2
A few weeks after she prevented a few of the old gods from blowing L.A. into the sea, Tori’s dealing with more dead bodies—shredded dead bodies—turning up along the leftover crater. Turns out Dionysus has resurrected his bloody fertility cult, complete with frenzied female groupies with a taste for male guts. Worse, Dion has found a way to get Demeter’s daughter away from Hades—and Hades could abandon his post to go after her if Tori can’t find her first. Which means if she fails, all Hell will, literally, break loose.

I found myself hooked when reading The Parlor in the anthology, Kicking It, just a few days ago. I've now run through both the first and this second book. I've just downloaded the third book and can't wait to start it. How come I hadn't heard of this author before?

Tori works as a PI with her uncle and is from a family of circus performers and had been told all her life that she's got gorgon blood and that the gods from Olympus were living "normal" lives in the here and now since they're no longer worshiped. She never believed any of it until confronted with it in the first book. With the help of Apollo and hottie detective Nick Armani, they were able to limit the damage done by Zeus, Poseidon and Hephaestus when they attempted to destroy Los Angeles to regain more of their powers and be worshiped again.

But now she's being blamed by Hades for not stopping all of the damage that was wrought which caused an opening to his realm and his wife, Persephone is now gone. Find her! The FBI/Homeland Security are watching her as unexplainable things tend to happen around her. And on a personal side, her family demands she locate her uncle in time for him to walk Tori's cousin down the aisle. The PI has been out of touch for 6 months and the lead takes her to even more of the gods.

This is a very fast paced story filled with a great deal of drama and action. It's lightened up by Tori's sarcastic one-liners as well as the situations she gets in when two hunky men are attracted to her and she's trying to avoid one of them. It's also fun to watch her mental and verbal dance when trying to prevent others from learning what's really going on.

You'll find plenty of mythology in this story and if nothing else you do learn aspects of what many of the gods are known for. I love the world, characters and situations created for this story.

Really original story. I highly recommend it. Action packed. Can't wait to read book 3. I wish there is more love interest development with Apollo.

Lucienne Diver's Crazy in the Blood is the second book in her Latter-Day Olympians series that I only recently discovered after reading a short story by her in an anthology. And I have to say I am definitely loving it! Tori is just such a great heroine. She's realistic. True, she's part gorgon and has the whole gorgon glare going for her, but I enjoy her personal humor. She says sarcastic things quite a bit, she's snarky, but I love her for it!

Two weeks have passed since the first book and you would think that means things are settling down, but oh no, they're just starting to get interesting! Meaning, Tori won't be taking any vacations for awhile! We open up to see Tori being question about a recent string of murders where the bodies had been shredded, totally gruesome. Tori's not sure what could've done it, but she knows that it wasn't anything human...or likely from our world.

Her Uncle Christos is still missing and we finally get some insight as to where he's at and what he's been doing. He's knee deep into a possible cult led by Dionysus and his worshipers. Tori is more determined than ever to find him, so she and her best friend Christie go to San Francisco where Tori's gotten a lead on her uncle and the case he was working. Along the way though, she gets hounded by Hades who is demanding that she find Persephone or else bad things will be happening here on earth and when the god of the underworld is telling you that, you better listen!

This was yet another read where Lucienne packs in the adventure and excitement! There's never any feelings of being overwhelmed. The events just flow into one another, such as Tori looking for her uncle who's caught up in the cult and she ends up investigating the cult and then that ties into even more of the going-ons.
