If you like South of I-10 or Outward Bound, or have some of his other stuff, you'll want to know where it all came from, and this CD is a good indication. Some very, very good tracks and playing, all very interesting to hear for those starved for "new" Sonny Landreth material (anyone know where to get a copy of "Blues Attack" nowadays?). Buy it; it's worth the money.

Note re =Outward Bound=, May 19, 2005
This review is from: Crazy Cajun Recordings (Audio CD)
I don't have this album yet, but it'll be mine one day, I know. Just based on the 30-sec samples, I gave it 5 stars because these 32-y-o recordings are surely in the upper 20 percent of all recordings!
Not in the upper 20 percent of all Sonny recordings, but very interesting nevertheless. (I stress: These opinions are based only on the samples!) Most of the cuts are far more country, and the blues more rustic, than we think of Sonny today. However, they do give an indication of an unconventional artistic sensibility and sparkling manual ability that have grown into a deep musical vision and phenomenal technique.
I could go on with observations based on these samples and what I know of Sonny's subsequent history, but all I really wanted to say was this:
Anybody who knows Sonny's =Outward Bound= CD should listen to sample 14, "Ain't Gonna Worry."
