Even the laziest lap cat has moments known as "the zips." Suddenly running amok through the house, leaping from couch to curtains to counter and back again, kitties with the zips are tiny terrors that rarely damage more than a houseplant but are seen by their family as certifiably insane for those few moments. Authors Bob Walker and Frances Mooney have captured tons of cats in the grips of the zips, and you're sure to recognize your own beloved feline within these pages. Walker's photographs range from kitties desperately escaping from the bottom of a Christmas tree to calmly drinking out of a coffee mug. One orange tabby seems to have a special eye for trouble--he's seen everywhere, from playing in a bathtub to wedging himself in a woodcarving work-in-progress. In a calmer moment, this same mischief-maker is shown in a classically cute pose--"hugging" a fellow feline while sleeping cheek to cheek. Does it get more adorable that that? Each photo is accompanied by a short reason we all love cats. While the quotes may seem serious upon first reading, look again at the companion picture. This book is fabulous. It definitely proves that cats have true personalities. The pictures are well taken, funny, touching, and the captions detail all of the reasons why cats are so great. It's fun to go through the pictures and recognize things that my cat does. It's nice to know he's not the only crazy cat!

It's always amazing what cats can(& do)get into. You can almost see them think. There's always something about them that is almost human. They can surely work their way into your heart..

This is a book all cat lovers would enjoy - and some will be inspired to create their own indoor cat playground. I was! He doesn't exactly tell you how to do it. He lets you know how he did it, along with a few cat tales. He writes with humor, and the photographs are wonderful. (Frances Mooney, his wife, is the photographer.) He has written a couple of other books, too, also with great photos.

I carpeted the ramps and stairs and levels, which he doesn't show, but I'm glad I did, because our cats (3 Siamese) have caught themselves when otherwise they would have fallen . (Cats can be as clumsy as anyone!)

And it's not just for the cats. If you enjoy your cats, you'll enjoy this book. And if you go even farther and make a playground at your house, you'll have the added fun of watching them running, leaping, cavorting, occasionally fighting, and whatever else cats can think of to do.

Perhaps they read the book, too!
