Christmas mystery for new readers. No better stocking stuffer available. Written by famous author Beverly Lewis, who writes fantastic stories for all ages. This Cul-de-sac kids series is intended to get youth interested in books. It is inexpensive and short enough to be read easily and quickly. Like kids attention spans. As a teacher, this type of book is welcomed for just getting the kids to pick up a book rather than a TV or video game controller. Books like this may make a difference to a child, a difference that will last a lifetime.

In this story a mystery develops when a new neighbor moves into the top of the cul-de-sac. An old man, who looks like a Scrooge,is secretly hiding angels inside his house. All 9 kids living on the cul-de-sac decide to get a better look and solve the mystery of the angels. It's a good safe plot, with kids ending up doing something very nice for the senior citizen of their street. A heartwarming tale, but with a mystery that will not give nightmares. Maybe some warm, fuzzy, sweet dreams, however.

It has a Christian slant, but not preachy. After all, it is a Christmas mystery story, and Christ is in the word Christmas, and angels are mentioned to be involved with that first Christmas, the child's birth. Kids will love it. What a perfect gift for children's church leaders, children's Sunday school teachers, grandparents, or others to receive--or better yet--give to kids at Christmas. Order lots at this price.

Includes 7 full-page illustrations. Large, child-friendly font size. As a former elementary teacher, I highly recommend this made-for-kids book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy Angels!, March 25, 2011

I love the way Beverly Lewis writes. Finding out she had children's books as well was a plus! This story about the "Crazy Christmas Angel" captivated my girls for over a week. We read one chapter a night. The Cul-de-sac kids are children my girls can relate to very well. Their way of solving the mystery of the Crazy Christmas Angel and learning to make a new friend too was very entertaining for the girls.

This book is about cool mystery stuff. Kids should read it because there is one mystery per book and the friends all have fun solving the mystery together. I am excited to read the other Cul De Sac kids books!

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming, November 6, 2006
This one is about Eric Hagel and the new neighbor that moves to the cul-de-sac. He's curious about the new scary old man and spies on him. What he sees seems very mysterious; flying angels and a dancing old man! With the help of his friends, he uncovers the mystery and finds that things aren't always what they seem.

This story teaches about acceptance without preaching. It's a quick and engaging read. The whole series is well worn in our church library, I only wish there were more!
