Why Storm is the coolest rock chick ever!,
By
This review is from: Crazy Enough (Audio CD)
Storm Large is in her purest form in this album. These songs were written as part of her one-woman show "Crazy Enough", currently being performed at Portland Center Stage. (On a side note, having recently seen the show, it is easily one of the best pieces of performance art/theater I have ever seen!)
The range of these songs is as broad as Storm's voice. From the sensual "Inside Outside", to the poingnant "Lullaby Song", to the rollicking "8 Miles Wide", every song hits you right where it should. Her vocals are strong and the lyrics are not only meaningful, but catchy as well. Storm clearly lives her work, and her passion for music emanates in every note she sings. I recommend this album to anyone who has music in their soul. She will sing to it.

Storm, she has a must have collection of work, some from the way back. Get it how ever you can, even used. I live in the Sacramento Metro Area, but was lucky enough to see her perform twice in Portland, OR. Wow! What a presence! I cant say enough! Discover her for yourself, NOW. ;)

Storm Large 'Eight Miles Wide' video review,
By afrab_null "afrab_null" (OH USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crazy Enough (MP3 Download)
Storm Large is a rock chick that should be a phenom. You can find plenty of info about her on the interweb, but suffice to say that she's a big-voiced, bigger-than-life talent with raw moxie and passion out the a**, and freakishly hot in a totally scary, real-girl way; that is, she eschews the 'skinny-girl' look, has some imposing body art, and seems approachable, if you have enough balls and are interesting enough to conduct a conversation.
The song, 'Eight Miles Wide' is a Large, tongue-in-cheek anthem to acceptance of the marginalized, including the marginalizers. That includes you, me, her, torch singers, night-club audiences, strip-club buddies, hot chicks in poofy dresses on big horses (her again), bull dykes, hot pixy chicks, furries, big girls in tight dresses, trannies, contortionists, mimes, &c.; you name it, ad sillium. The 'Eight Miles Wide' in question is a 'Vigantical' metaphor for her arms-wide-open 'vagina', where 'everyone' should 'come inside'. Ms Large is damned pretty in the best non- skinny American Girl tradition, and her huge grin, lost-in-thought demeanor, and thoughtful sincerity, combined with her willingness to be the butt of her own jokes, makes the video watchable and fun. The song, while a bit of a throw-away, is a catchy vocal-riff number. The video has so many sincerely comic moments, you'll find yourself watching it several times for the humor, as well as the hotness. Take the song for the pop-product it's intended to be, and move on to her intent that the video for 'Eight Miles Wide' look like "a cross between a Dr. Pepper commercial and a Massengill douche commercial." Storm Large grin.
