"The novel is like watching an 80's soap opera like Dallas or Dynasty." -- A Top Pick from The Romance Reviews

Product Description

** Nominated for "Best Contemporary Romance of 2010" at The Romance Reviews **

Crazy For You is a rags to riches tale set against the backdrop of the 80s, movie stars and rock-n-roll.

Roxanne Simon's world is shattered when a tragic accident claims the life of her childhood sweetheart. Unable to cope with the loss when everything around her reminds her of Chuck, she and Candy (Chuck's sister and Roxanne's best friend) hit the road to start a new life.

In Florida, the "Simon sisters" meet Frank Garrett and Rich Hollander, co-founders of the struggling rock band Garrett-Hollander. In a cruel twist of fate, an unstable Roxanne makes some bad choices and ends up running away from a clueless Frank. Candy, knowing her friend is in deep trouble emotionally and mentally, follows suit and the sisters disappear just as the band is about to land their big break.

Years later, after the Simon sisters and Garrett-Hollander have both found fame and fortune, their lives intersect once again after Roxanne appears on a popular talk show and the world is left guessing: is rock star Frank Garrett the father of her four year old son?

Once Frank learns the true parentage of Roxanne's son, he's determined to make her pay. But is Frank prepared to see Roxanne pay the ultimate price in his quest for revenge?

Be careful what you wish for...you just might get it.

1.0 out of 5 stars I don't have the words..., March 4, 2011

...so perhaps the author will lend me a thesaurus. Hopefully not the one she used while writing this much too long, and ridiculous story. In almost every paragraph there is at least one word that is just not quite right. Repeated misuse of adjectives and adverbs. It could be an overuse of the synonym lookup function of her word processing program in the interests of attempting to sound more educated...she uses two multi-syllabic words when one word of one syllable would do. This story would have benefitted from agressive editing by someone who had received a passing score on the English word usage section of the SATs.

None of the characters' behaviors seemed at all justified by the reasons the author detailed. ****SPOILERS**** The main female character is supposed to (I think - not really made clear) be a gentle, dreamy woman who has a mental illness that causes her to detach from reality, but she actually comes across as stupid, just plain old dumb. But then we're supposed to believe that this dummy escapes from the abusive boyfriend's clutches, hides from him and while in hiding finishes a novel that becomes a best seller, sells the film rights, assists in writing the screenplay, gives birth, stars in the movie (under a stage name so the boyfriend can't find her (????!!!)), wins an Oscar (while still hiding from the boyfriend under the assumed name!), writes a second movie AND the screenplay, stars in that, is nominated for another Oscar...PHEW! I'm exhausted...and SHE accomplishes all this in a short little 4 year period...****SPOILER END***

Either the author was very young when this was written or lack of research are the only two explanation for murky character motivation and the inaccuracies of so much of the reporting of medical and legal situations, the publishing world, film making, etc. And as for it chronicling the drug culture of bands and touring in the 80's, it reads more like a get together of high schoolers who smoke a little weed rather than hard core rock band a looking for their next fix.

I won't go on. Suffice it to say that if you're interested in reading something a little more believable (and well written) about the time period and band touring in the 80's, give a try to Kathleen Giles Seidel's "Till the Stars Fall". It's a lovely story and beautifully written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! Loved it!, July 28, 2010
This review is from: Crazy For You (Kindle Edition)
I just finished Crazy for You. I loved this book. I read a lot of romance books. Most of them keep me interested while I am reading, but are quickly forgotten. I can't remember the last time I connected with a character like Roxanne. I was rooting for her right from the start. I cried! I haven't cried while reading a book in forever. This story of Frank and Roxie really touched me. I want to read it again and that's something I never do. I can't wait for Sandra Edward's next book. Keep them coming.

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of time and money, June 9, 2011

This is my first review of anything ever. This book was SO bad, I felt compelled to write this review if for no other reason than to warn off others considering wasting their time and/or money for this piece of junk. I kept reading this book hoping it would get better. After all, it was a published work and had received some great reviews. The plot was trite, the characters were one-dimensional, and it reads like it was written by a twelve year old Catholic schoolgirl. I've never read a so-called romance novel with descriptions of passion like "they made love" or "he kissed her." That's it. Nothing more to say. My dead grandmother could come up with something spicier than that! Bottom-line: It's just awful. Don't bother.
