I bought Crazy Forts for my 4 year old son, who just loves it when I build him forts out our dining room chairs. I purchased this set thinking of all the creative ways we could build new adventures that didn't involve tearing my whole house apart. The individual pieces are incredibly sturdy, but when put together they fall apart very easily. The "balls" in which the sticks are inserted have approx. 16 different orientations possible. Having said this, in order to achieve a angular roof as shown on the box, you must calculate correctly the rotation/position of each ball. My 4 year old of course cannot do this, my 14 year old gave up after about 1/2 hour and then mom stepped in. It took me about a 1/2 hour of rotating those balls to achieve something that looked like a house. It lasted about 5 minutes after my son started playing with it. Basic squares are very easy to build, but again not too creative and the structures fall apart very easily. I spent about 80 dollars on this set and I totally regret this purchase. The concept is great, but execution is incredibly difficult. Save your money and build your forts out of your dining room chairs and the sofa.

i bought two of these kits for my 7 year old son for Christmas. I had read reviews which warned that it was difficult for younger kids to put together, but I figured his 12 year old brother could help him and they'd have fun with it together. I purchased 2 kits because reviews from people who liked it said 1 kit was not enough to make really cool forts. Well, this was a complete dud. The forts do NOT stay together. Talk about frustration! I thought maybe the kids were just being impatient and that if I built it, then I could teach them how to do it and they'd have fun. No way. The rubber balls do not have deep enough holes to get the sticks to stay in properly. If you can manage to get something put together, the entire thing collapses as soon as a sheet is put on it. Save your money and your frustration!

I read the previous reviews. We did find it tricky at first to assemble, but once we got the hang of it...the kids did fine with it. I reccommend that you buy a "satin" or silky sheet (we used our 600 count Egyptian Cotton) sheet for putting on the top of the fort. Any heavier and it doesn't stand.
My kids liked it so much, I bought another set for Xmas so they can make "Bigger" Forts! I also got it with the "lights." I wouldn't get for kids younger than five years old due to having to use their hands with strong manipulations. I didn't give it Five stars b/c of the flimsy-ness of it (stated above re: sheets).
