GNARLS BARKLEY's ( from the ST. ELSEWHERE album) first single, "CRAZY", was THE FIRST SONG TO BECOME A UK NUMBER ONE SINGLE BASES SOLELY ON DOWNLOAD SALES (on April 2)!!I recommend checking it out.

First some back story...

...Brian Burton was born in New York & lived in Georgia for a long time where his electronica work under the name Pelican City was released. He re-mixed work by local artists. From 1998 to 2003 Burton also created a series of remix CDs under the stagename D.J.Danger Mouse (inspired by the British cartoon series Dangermouse, see my review) including the album Ghetto Pop Life (`03), he created The Grey Album, mixing an a cappella version of Jay Z's The Black Album over beats crafted from samples of The Beatles' White Album. The remix album, originally created just for his friends, spread over the internet and Entertainment Weekly ranking it the best record of the year, also earning him a Grammy nom. (best producer). Danger Mouse was also named among the Men of the Year by GQ mag in 2004 and won the 2005 "WIRED Rave Award." Damon Albarn, who tracked him down to produce the Gorillaz' "DEMON DAYS". Followed by "The Mouse and the Mask" and "MF DOOM" for Cartoon Network's ADULT SWIM.

Now here Danger Mouse releases ST. ELSEWHERE, another TV reference and collaboration with CEE-LO as GNARLS BARKLEY, the debut album of Gnarls Barkley, released on April 24, 2006 in the United Kingdom, where it debuted at number one on the ALBUM CHART and is set to be released on May 9 in the States, although it can be purchased this week as a digital download in the U.S. iTunes music store.

CEE-LO, born in Thomas Calloway, is an American hip-hop, funk, soul and R&B singer, songwriter / producer (Goodie Mob). CEE-LO's solo hits are the singles "Closet Freak" and "I'll Be Around." Born in Georgia, he is one of a number of artists to successfully record as both a rapper and singer. He has appeared as a featured singing vocalist on songs by artists such as Santana, Twista, OutKast and Black Eyed Peas (Like That), and sings background vocals on TLC's hit single "Waterfalls". His songwriter / producer his include the 2005 hit singles recorded by The Pussycat Dolls and Busta Rhymes..Cee-Lo received a Grammy nom for his song "Getting' Grown"
Given the background of the two artists involved and the hip soulfulness of CEE-LO's voice in the single "CRAzy" charged with the style that keeps a hit in for the long haul the album, ST. ELSEWHERE should be a hit. Pick up the whole album or download them one at a time, here are the rest of the tracks NOT ON THIS SINGLE..

Out of all the songs that have really been surprising, there have been very few that actually have shown the feel of it not just in the song, but the video as well. Gnarls Barkley is one of those few that have surprised us all with Crazy. The song is very, very catchy, where its video showcases the view of a infinte inkblot test. I was really amazed with how the song delivers. I just hope that Gnarls Barkley can continue to make other good songs like this one, soon. I just haven't gotten tired of hearing this one yet.

You certainly ain't crazy liking this song. So much has been said of the collaboration between Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo and the resultant product from Gnarls Barkley.

First single, Crazy, was leaked a whole 6 months before the album was released. And therefore, created a big buzz over the song. Infectiously catchy and unquestionably soulful, Crazy is undoubtedly one of the year's best singles along with Thom Yorke's Harrowdown Hill. Cee-Lo's vocals possessed a pristine quality, firing the song into great heights.

It's one of the times when a collaboraton between two different artites that bears fruit this good.

I bought this CD specifically for the track entitled "Crazy". Anything else - hey,bonus!

Very,very short CD. But if you like the song "Crazy" - it's worth it.

Could there have been more...? Possibly....

I bought this song for "Crazy". I thought it would be representative of the rest of the CD. I also thought it was a regular length CD. I was wrong on both counts. The other SONG on the CD is garbage.

It's my own fault but beware there are only two songs on this disc. I feel like I got ripped off.

The CD was just as described and arrived only 4 days after placing my order! I was very happy with my purchase!

I enjoyed the CD and would purchase from this seller again. It was shipped in perfect condition and on time.

To 'D. Carroll': what makes you cool is that you listen to good music.... however, any moron can read the liner notes of the album to find inspiration for music and/or lyrics.... Keep on tryin, tho! :)

I feel like I was led to believe that this was an entire cd from Gnarls Barcley, I didn't realize it was a single. Clearly I love it but was disappointed.
