5.0 out of 5 stars A Hot Romance With Plenty Of Action!, March 7, 2006
This review is from: Crazy Hot (Mass Market Paperback)
Regan McKinney is worried about her grandfather. He seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. The only clue she has is a cryptic message written on a calendar. The note takes her to a ghost town out in the middle of nowhere. What she thinks is a wild goose chase...ends up leading her to her past, and a man she has been thinking a good deal about. Quinn Younger is an American hero former Air Force pilot and all around good guy...but boy does he know how to be bad! Regan can't decide if she wants to kiss him senseless or wrap herself around him and never let go. When she finds out he might be able to help her with her grandfather she doesn't hesitate to believe in him. Now, her life is in danger, she has a wonderful protector, but who will protect her heart?

Quinn fell in love with Regan when he was sixteen years old. This car stealing bad boy has turned his life around and now he works for his government. Injured while on a case he is hiding out in Cisco wishing he could be back in the thick of things. Well, he should be careful for what he wishes for because trouble has just rolled into town and her name is Regan. It's not long before the attraction burns crazy hot between them and not long before they are both caught up in danger. Will he be able to save his lady and bring the bad guys down or will he loose more then he thinks he ever could?

This was a fast paced read. Ms. Janzen has penned a very sensual but entertaining romance with really larger then life characters. I love how she has been able to weave more then one storyline into this book without cheating the reader. Ms. Janzen is an author to watch in the action romance genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review by Tammy from Fallen Angel Reviews, May 1, 2006
This review is from: Crazy Hot (Mass Market Paperback)
Regan McKinney's search for her missing grandfather has led her to the deserted town of Cisco, Utah and straight into the arms of Quinn Younger. Regan had met Quinn long ago while digging up dinosaur bones for her grandfather, Dr. Wilson McKinney. Quinn had been sent to her grandfather after being busted for stealing cars but, and has since gone on to be an Air Force pilot and a hero so, what could he be doing in this desolate little town?

Quinn Younger has been stuck in Cisco for a long time waiting for his injuries to heal and for the heat to die down when Regan McKinney shows up in town with trouble right on her heels. Their only option is to get out of town and to get Regan and her sister to a safe place. Can Quinn put his long ago crush on Regan out of his mind long enough to get through this safely or can he convince her they would be great together?

Kid Chaos, the newest member of the SDF team, has been waiting with Quinn when Regan showed up. He now has his orders to pick up Nikki, Regan's sister, and move her to a hotel in a safe location, when everything starts to go wrong. Kid is speechless when he met the beautiful Nikki and even more so to find her painting a naked man. When the trip to the hotel puts them into danger, Kid soon realizes that he needs more focus on keeping them alive and less on Nikki's stunning body.

Crazy Hot is the first in a four-book series by Tara Janzen. This story is sizzling hot with characters that pull you in from the first page and do not let you go. The action is superb with an exciting plot and a smooth, flowing style. Tara Janzen is a fabulously talented writer that, I believe, has a long promising future ahead of her. If you are looking for suspense with hot cars, hot men with a touch bad boy in them, and scorching romance then do not miss the debut of The Mission: Crazy Hot!
I can guarantee that I will be buying anything written by Ms. Janzen and eagerly awaiting the next three books in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars action-packed thriller, September 28, 2005
This review is from: Crazy Hot (Mass Market Paperback)
The Boulder police did not believe paleontologist Regan McKinney that the disappearance of her beloved grandfather was not his usual summer wandering amidst the Badlands. She insisted this was different as retired professor Dr. Wilson McKinney always checked in with her and would never miss a speaking engagement; both occurred. That is why she is in the middle of the ghost town Cisco seeking former USAF hero Quinn Younger who Regan believes knows what happened to her grandfather. While Quinn watches Regan wondering if she is an enemy agent, two thugs arrive, forcing him to come out of the shadows to rescue her.

In front of Quinn's "guardian angel" Kid Chaos, Regan explains that Wilson vanished just after bringing home a Porsche, whish she knows from her teen days means Quinn is involved. Quinn would do anything for his mentor Wilson who he believes straightened him out as a teen except give away his cover as a thief. Still he must protect Regan because she refuses to stop her search and rescue of Wilson though he believes the bones doc is safe. He must also prevent some nasty thieves from stealing precious dinosaur bones inside a nest filled with diamonds.

This action-packed thriller never slows down from the moment that Regan arrives in Cisco until the final discussion between the lead couple over confiscated diamonds. The story line is action-packed leaping from one escapade to another mindful of an Indiana Jones adventure. Fans who appreciate plenty of adventure and romance will want to read CRAZY HOT and look forward to the capers of Quinn's teammate Christian Hawkins in the next crazy special defense force unit's appearance.

4.0 out of 5 stars All this, and muscle cars too!, October 5, 2005

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Crazy Hot (Mass Market Paperback)
The action is fast and furious, there's a stripped-down juiced-up story in addition to a respectable plot, the characters have histories, and there's a lot of yummy tumbling going on. The author's deep affection for her characters is evident, and her enthusiasm is contagious -- I enjoyed the romp!

2.0 out of 5 stars Crazy Tepid, July 16, 2008
This review is from: Crazy Hot (Mass Market Paperback)
This was my first book by Tara Janzen and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The chemistry between Regan and Quinn was amazing, the story moved along quickly and the story was engrossing.

All that being said, I thought there were too many people to keep track of and I got confused. It was like she tried to introduce and give a story to every member of Steele Street and it was slightly overwhelming. I also thought the naming of and giving personalities to the cars was strange and also added to the confusion.

The book was also awfully long (400 pages)for only encompassing two days. A lot of that had to do with too many characters and not enough focus on Quinn, Regan, and Roper Jones. I was a little lost as to why Roper Jones had such a vendetta against Quinn save for the bone theft, but all of Steele Street was in on that.

I would also like to say that the love scenes were HOT.

I did like how it set up the story of Kid Chaos and Nikki and I will probably buy that book and read it.

Overall, this is a worthwhile read and I would recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy Hot is Crazy Good!!, July 30, 2007
This review is from: Crazy Hot (Mass Market Paperback)
Crazy Hot is Crazy Good!! I discovered this series from someone's suggestion on a message board. Boy am I glad I tried it. I love action romance, and Tara Janzen writes with a "Suzanne Brockmannesque" style. It was great!!

Quinn is a reformed "bad boy" who now works in a "top secret" black ops special forces unit called the SDF. The SDF has now employed Regan's grandfather as a special consultant on a project. The problem: Regan's forgetful grandfather has neglected to inform Regan or her younger sister Nikki where he is. She finds Quinn hoping to discover some answers. When Regan and Quinn's paths collide, the fireworks start to fly. A secondary story involving Nikki and another SDF member named "Kid Chaos" was equally exciting. I can't wait to get my hands on their story.

The great thing about discovering a "new" author with an established series, is that all the books are already written. The next story, Crazy Cool has already been ordered!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Crazy good, April 22, 2006
This review is from: Crazy Hot (Mass Market Paperback)

First book in the "Crazy" series.

This story begins with a sizzle in a little dusty Utah town and races to Boulder and Denver, Colorado where the sizzle turns hot, scorching hot.

Paleontologist Regan McKinney is looking for her grandpa, following his trail to Cisco, Utah. She doesn't find Grandpa but she DOES find Quinn Younger, former delinquent turned Air Force pilot turned war hero.

As a teen Quinn performed some community service with Regan's grandpa and fell for the teenaged Regan. He's carried that torch all these years and so has she. Quinn and some of the other former delinquents/car thieves now work as Steele Street agents - undercover for the government.

The Steele Street agents are tracking down a missing arms shipment. And Regan's grandpa was helping them out by inspecting dinosaur bones?!!!?? Uh huh.

Fun, action-packed story. Snappy dialogue, smart characters, steamy sex. A little too much about Regan's sister, Nikki, and Kid Chronopolous, another Steele Street agent. Setting up a future book? Probably. They distracted me from Regan and Quinn's romance.

The action started from the beginning and didn't let up. The romance was steamy, the plot realistic. I had a hard time putting this one down. Definitely found another author to follow. If you enjoy Suzanne Brockmann, you'll love this author and this story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable humorous romantic suspense, May 18, 2011
This review is from: Crazy Hot (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this series years ago and liked it, but I have to admit I didn't recall the details. I just re-read this book and wow it was very good--much better than I remembered. As good as books I've read from popular romantic suspense authors like Cindy Gerard, Linda Howard, Susan Brockman, etc.

It has a lighter, humorous style, but still with a good amount of romance and suspense. I liked the characters and the setup around the SDF (special defence force -- a governmental special ops group). Their Steele Street cover was very original.

I also liked the romance theme of teenage crush turning into adult love when the lead characters met many years later. Janzen writes a good steamy scene (on a car! in an elevator!) and manages to build emotion into the moment. I enjoyed the side story between 'Kid Chaos' and the heroine's sister. Their book comes later in the series and it's a good one. I'll definitely be rereading these books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast...Sexy...Crazy...Hot!!!!, October 18, 2007

I am so hooked. If I had a week all to myself, I'd read every single book in this series and I know I'd enjoy every second.

This is different than anything I've ever read. Other reviewers have likened this author to Suzanne Brockmann, but I think she's BETTER! Just a couple of things regarding this book.

1.) I usually don't like books in which the couple "hooks up" to quickly. I like relationship development. Regan and Quinn sleep together hours after they meet, (the whole book happens in a 24 hour period of time) but I didn't mind because this couple has a past. They've actually been thinking (aka fantasizing) about eachother for years. This made the hasty hook-up make sense and all the more "steamy".
2.) I thought I'd read everything there was to read in a sex scene. I was wrong. Let's just say in the whole book, Regan and Quinn are never together in a bed! Hot!
3.) How often can you say that the secondary characters and secondary romance are more captivating than the main couple. I don't think I've ever been able to say that. Susan Elizabeth Phillips is the only other author that I can think of that can flawlessly weave a secondary couple into a storyline, but again, Tara Janzen does it even better. I am screaming out for more Kid, Nikki, and most of all Hawkens. Lucky for me, his book is next.

Don't hesitate to read this if you like a fast-paced crazy adventures with sexy badboys, fast cars, and "hot" scenes.
