If Sadie Turner is good at anything, it’s putting stuff in order. So when she finds her “perfect” life in disarray, she hopes a summer vacation at her aunt’s lake house will help her piece it back together. She wants to relax, reboot, and heal the wounds left by her cheating ex-husband. And that requires time away from men. All men.

Or so she thinks.

With two slobbering dogs and two cousins living there—one a flamboyant decorator intent on making over Sadie—it’s hard to get a moment’s peace at eccentric Aunt Dody’s house, especially with everyone so determined to set her up with Desmond, the sexy new neighbor.

Desmond is Sadie’s worst nightmare. Tall, tanned, muscular…and to top it off, he’s great with her kids. But he must have a flaw—he’s a man—so Sadie vows to keep her distance.

As summer blazes on, the life Sadie is trying so hard to simplify only becomes more complicated—a new career presents itself, her evil ex haunts her, and Aunt Dody reveals a tragic secret—but maybe a little chaos is just what Sadie needs to get her life back in order.

    From Booklist

Reeling from her divorce, Sadie Turner packs up her kids to spend the summer at her eccentric Aunt Dody's lake house. What's meant to be a quiet respite turns into a fun-filled adventure, thanks to her aunt, flamboyant cousin Fontaine, and a handsome neighbor. Desmond, who's filling in for the local doctor, is Scottish and charming and takes immediately to Sadie's colorful family. As far as everyone's concerned, he's the perfect summer fling. But when what starts as a casual and steamy interlude evolves into something more serious, Sadie and Des must decide whether they can open up again after heartbreak. Debuting romance novelist Brogan, who also has a historical romance coming out later this year, shows a real knack for creating believable yet quirky characters. Her contemporary romance has the usual misunderstandings and requisite happy ending, but the surprising emotional twists along the way make it a satisfying romp. --Aleksandra Walker

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun, laugh out loud romance! October 23, 2012
    By Jane P.
    Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
When I'm looking for a quick, light-hearted, funny read, I'll often grab a well-loved Jennifer Crusie or Kristan Higgins. New author Tracy Brogan is definitely getting added to the list. I thought "Crazy Little Thing" was a hoot! I laughed out loud so many times that my husband started giving me the stink eye. The dialogue between characters may have been a little over the top sometimes, but other times was so real that I felt like the author had listened in conversations I've had with my own friends (a band of smart-mouth, sarcastic chicks if there ever was one). Were there some character cliches? Sure, but it didn't make it any less funny. The book had its quiet moments too, which made for a nice breather in between antics. If I want a serious, deep, insightful read, I'll grab War & Peace (has anyone ever actually read that book?). If I want to laugh and sigh and dream about a gorgeous Scottish hunk who inexplicably falls madly in love with me, I'll come back to Tracy Brogan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun, fast read November 2, 2012
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Crazy Little Thing -- When her divorce is final, Sadie Turner packs her kids up and heads to the beach town of Bell Harbor, Michigan to try and regroup while visiting her eccentric Aunt Dody. Enter the handsome single neighbor, her two adult cousins who are also living at home, and her scheming ex and you have the recipe for an at times laugh-out-loud romance. I'll admit that the beginning dragged. Sadie is not immediately likable - she's grumpy and so locked in a pity party about her divorce that you want to reach in the pages and throttle her rather than keep turning them. She does get some better, but all the characters tended toward predictable and stereotypical. Despite that, it's a fun, fluffy, fast read that hits the spot if that's what you're looking for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, funny and a great read! October 23, 2012
    Format:Paperback
I loved this contemporary romance! With a sympathetic heroine, a super-hot hero, and a cast of secondary characters that makes you want to read the whole book in one sitting, Crazy Little Thing has it all. Engaging, quick read that had me laughing out loud in places. The author's voice is witty and engaging-- not to be missed!

I had so much fun reading this book, it was romantic & real & really funny. I love books that make me laugh out loud - in public- so that people look at me & wonder. I'm so sure they wanted to peek at the title so they could rush right out & get their own copy it would be that good. And I realized, too, that other people have an Aunt Do die, gifts love that!!

    5.0 out of 5 stars What a fun story!! October 29, 2012
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
    What a fun story!!
Bring together a very recently divorced Sadie with her Aunt Dody, brothers Jasper and Fontaine, and Des, a real hunky emergency room doctor in Bell Harbor, Michigan and you have the makings of a good romance story. Add that Sadie brings her 4 and 6 year old children as she escapes into her aunt's dotty attitude and malapropisms and the fact that Fontaine is gay and it begins to look even more interesting. Sadie's whole family seems dedicated to double-entendres, smart remarks and stories of misspent youth, while her daughter Paige's misunderstanding of adult humor leaves you rolling on the floor laughing.
Aunt Dody and Fontaine are dedicated to matchmaking with Sadie and Des. That is greatly complicated by Sadie's emphatic decision to never fall in love or marry again and Des' role as a temporary fill-in for the regular emergency room doctor. Sadie and Fontaine both find Des tremendously attractive. Since Sadie's ex-husband Richard has successfully torn apart Sadie's self esteem, she enters into a friendship with Des afraid of her own shadow. She second-guesses both her own and Des's actions and words, always putting the worst possible spin on them.
This is a well-written light-hearted romp with a truly dysfunctional cast of characters. I loved it!

1.0 out of 5 stars I cannot understand the other reviews February 12, 2013
    By Heather
    Format:Kindle Edition
I couldn't even finish this book, it was terrible. It was cheap and had good ratings so I thought I would give it a try. It was very poorly written, the cheesiest jokes I have seen in awhile, like a 10 year old spouting off 'knock knock" jokes. I kept reading thinking it would get better but Sadie's awkward exchanges with Des were too much. I don't review often but I just cannot understand what the other readers liked about this book. Thought I should warn other readers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Would have been a four except for one, BIG problem January 28, 2013

    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Sadie, late 20's, divorced mother of two young kids, decides to spend the summer by Lake Michigan with her kooky aunt and assorted grown-up male cousins. There she meets Des, 36yo Scottish doctor, and an offbeat courtship/relationship ensues.

This was a pretty quick read. Although it wanted to be really funny, it came off more as ridiculous in my opinion. I've read other romances where I actually laughed out loud (some books by Sophie Kinsella, for one) but this was not really one of them. However, it was still an enjoyable read--Des was totally HOT and a nice guy without being a wuss or a control freak--best case scenario.

Sadie JUST skirted the edge of being one of those heroines who says, "I don't know why he would like me, I'm such a mess" and you find yourself agreeing with her. She pulled back just enough between the ridiculous acts of craziness that I wasn't totally annoyed with her. Although, strangely, I never really got a sense of what she looked like. Brown hair and eyes, and she denigrated herself at every turn. But others said she was beautiful, even her ex and he was a total narcissist who would probably never be caught dead with anyone rating less than a 9. She said she had worked out like crazy to try to "help her marriage" before the divorce so her body was great, but a few pages later, she'd be saying how she had to stand up straight and suck in her gut when Des was near. She just never came into focus.

There's a bit of sex in the book but none of it is graphic or even detailed. Even so it didn't bother me. I would have liked to have seen more of Sadie and Des as a couple among other people. It seemed like almost every time they were together and happy, it was in private.
