3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I thought..., September 28, 2010

This review is from: Crazy Papers (Paperback)
I bought this book because I am a HUGE fan of the artist, Danielle Corsetto. Unfortunately, while I enjoyed the art, the story was somewhere between boring and not very good.

Spoiler warning...

So the summary on the back of the book had something to do with Melanie getting out of her "rut." For one thing, it's not very well established that she's even in a rut. Her impulsive, irresponsible friend tells her she is in a rut, but there is not evidence given that Melanie HERSELF believes she's in a rut. Okay. And then, at the end, the "kick in the pants" that Melanie supposedly needed was done on the VERY LAST PAGE. There's no character development, the story is vague and almost pointless, and the end is VERY unsatisfying.

Unfortunately, though I have great admiration for the artist, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone else.

3.0 out of 5 stars Alright, not much story, April 6, 2010
This review is from: Crazy Papers (Paperback)
I love the artist on this graphic novel, Danielle Corsetto, and when I saw that she had done this project I jumped at it. And while the art is pretty phenomenal, the story itself was pretty lacking and a little boring.

The story is about Melanie and two of her friends who meet and mysterious and eccentric stranger. The set-up is interesting, but the final conclusion was a bit of a let down.

If you're a fan of the artist or the author, this is a fun thing to have in your collection. If your looking for a nice looking, short read this would be a good book. But if you are looking for a complex story long and an epic build up, I would look else where.

2.0 out of 5 stars Crazy Disappointing, February 20, 2012

The illustrations were totally Danielle Corsetto, but the plot was nowhere near as stellar as her well known web comic "Girls with Slingshots". Of course, she didn't write it. I felt this was a waste of money and a huge disappointment. If you're a fan of Danielle Corsetto, don't buy this - the story is simply boring. It felt like a cheap knock off of Sex in the City that did not translate well to comic form.
