Great transfer from the arcade to the GBA, mediocre graphics,
By
This review is from: Crazy Taxi: Catch A Ride (Video Game)
This game plays pretty much the same as the arcade/Dreamcast/PS version. It is a very fun, almost addictive game to play. Due to the memory contraints of the GBA cartridge the graphics and music of the other versions didn't make it into the handheld version, but once you get used to the chunky graphics it's not too bad. I think I turned the music off after the third time I played. Otherwise it plays pretty well on the GBA.

Portable Crazy Taxi isn't half bad,
By A Customer
This review is from: Crazy Taxi: Catch A Ride (Video Game)
Pick up a customer, drive to the location, drop off, repeat - all within a certain time limit for each customer. The basis of Crazy Taxi: Catch a Ride is simple but so addicting. If you've played the dreamcast or other version you know what I'm talking about. I love the whole concept of Crazy Taxi and the GBA version conveys it nicely. The sound isn't horrible but it can't compare to Offspring and Bad Religion. My only complaint is the graphics which are choppy, but that issue is ignorable. This a great game for any one looking for a game just to pick up and play anytime.

When I first saw this game I thought to myself,....yes Crazy Taxi on the GBA. You can now play Crazy Taxi on the run, with this new portable version. I love all the Crazy Taxi games, including this one...yet it's not perfect by any means. When I first began playing it, I had a blast and kept on playing, and playing, like their was no tommorow.
Well, after awhile, their was nothing left to the game,.....!!! Their isn't much depth to the game at all, and after about 2-3 hours I've pretty much mastered the game, which didn't take much effort at all. I still had fun playing with the game awhile after though, but the flaws really killed the game, this game in reality could have been way better. I myself am not picky, but from graphics, to controls, and to the basic depth,... you can tell this game was just thrown together and mass produced to soon. First, of all the game has some pretty bad graphics. The visuals are all chopy and messed up always has you crashing into something, I don't get it how could you go through part of a wall, but crash into a stupid tree or sign. Besides that the gameplay was fun, and very addictive. The gameplay in fact is probably the only thing that saved the game along with the Crazy Taxi name. The controls took awhile to get used of too, which wasn't a major problem for me but really using the L And R trigger to shift between reverse and forward, gosh. Another problem was their are only two freakin' maps in the entire game; named city 1 and city 2; man thats original. Yes the maps are pretty decent size, pretty similar to all the other Crazy Taxi games in the past,... their wasn't anything to visually enjoy either. So I'm driving around, the environment is crap, the graphics suck, but oddly enough I still enjoy this game. I guess it's a gulity pleasure, but if the game testers and the rest of the production staff did their jobs this cold've been a masterpiece, but this is barely average, and to alot of people a disgrace. After reading what I just said, it's most likely dicouraged you and pushed you away from buying this game. Despite the faults the gameplay never fails to satisfy, but it will get repetive. The game will be fun for Crazy Taxi fans, and people who are open minded and are into some "crazy" action on the go. I liked the game, but I feel that when I had to pay $29.99 at the time, that I had really over payed for this game. If, you find this game for around $10 in a bargain bin, be sure to pick it up. Excellent gameplay, but horrible graphics, along with alot less depth that the other Crazy Taxi games has, but if you love Crazy Taxi cbut constantly on the go, this is a perfect game for that. The music, was annoying to so I ended up turning the volume down too, the sound wasn't that impressive either. So if you aren't picky and looking for something simple and new, or love Crazy Taxi be free to get this game. Yet, it's your call.... it's no must buy, but I saw this on sale at Game Stop for about $5 the other day, which is a steal. GAME OVERVIEW: Gameplay: 4/5- Very, fun and addictive. The gameplay is what save the game with, the good old classic feel of the original, now portable. Crazy Taxi fans will enjoy it. Had blast despite downfalls. Controls: 3/5- A little different, but nothing to complicated. Easy to learn, nothing special, didn't like how the used the L and R trigger though... besides that the same controls as most driving games on the GBA. Graphics: 1.5/5- Horrible, and no excuse of why they are this bad. Not, pretty at all....I've personaly seen better graphics on the original NES. Sound: 2.5/5- Not that realistic, along with corny music, but still acceptable. Could have been better, but I've herad worst. The music though will sometimes drive you nuts. Depth: 2.5/- Not much at all, only 2 maps with 4 drivers. A very simple game, but the mini games were pretty cool. Gosh, I was not impressed though. The maps were a decent size as well. Overall: 3/5- Not the greatest game ever made, but I had some serious fun. The game doesn't look that good though but, some good action. Nothing to go run out and buy.... only buy if the prices range from $10 or under. -Rogue Fox Critic Mega Gamer (since age:5) Check out my other reviews if you need buying advice or more info.

This game is alright for the GBA but if you didn't like the home console of Crazy Taxi then you will not like this game. It is fun in its own right but its not the best GBA game i own. The graphics in this game are kinda bad but if you get passed that then you can really enjoy this game (isn't it the gameplay that counts anyway). This game includes two cities one which you unlock later and after that there is really not that much to do put pick up people and drop them off. If this sounds boring to you then well you should not consder playing or purcasing this game. It's fun for a casual gamer but not fun for hardcore gamers. Overall i give this game a 7/10

The GBA conversion of the Dreamcast classic Jet Grind Radio was surprisingly transferred well onto the GBA, but this DC to GBA port suffers more due to the memory constraints of the system. When you get past Crazy Taxi's chunky graphics and almost non-existant sound, you'll find the same addicting gameplay that made Crazy Taxi a hit in the arcades, the Dreamcast, and the various other systems it has been released on since. The controls are as simple as they are on home systems, and the taxi handles almost as good as it has on it's other versions. The only major drawback of Crazy Taxi: Catch a Ride, and it is a big drawback, is the chunky and sometimes misshapen graphics that are almost reminiscent of the original Star Fox for the Super Nintendo way back when. If you can get past the graphics though, you'll find a solid game that is worth giving a look.

I actually JUST got this game, and I must say I'm pretty impressed. I didn't know the GBA could process graphics like this! Veru colorful, stylish and fun! Dreamcast fans (or people that can't really afford any of the bigger systems) are gonna be very pleased with this title. The reason why I didn't give it 5 stars? Sometimes the graphics get a little scrambled (especially if there's too much action going on) and the cars are not as fast as they should be. Other than that, great game!

I bought this because a couple of years ago I watched my boyfriend play Grand Theft Auto, and the fact that he could hijack a taxi in that, and pick up passengers sounded quite entertaining to me. I got a GBA for my birthday, and ended up buying this.
Big mistake. I shouldn't be allowed in shops alone to buy GBA games, cos I choose rubbish! OK, the game was OK to start with. I figured out how to work it, despite having no instructions, and having my licence taken off me on my first go. I carried on, and 'completed' it within a couple of hours. Actually, I don't think there's any way you can complete it, but once you're the number 1 taxi driver out there, there's nowhere else for you to go. The graphics are also terrible on the GBA, and I don't know why. I 'crashed' into walls & other drivers so many times simply because I couldn't work out where I was going. I had about a couple of inches away from my face most of the time, just so I could work out where I was going. The training sessions, aren't worth the hassle of playing. They're pointless, and the only one I half managed to do was crash into balloons, and I still only managed 12 out of 20. It's impossible to achieve what is expected of you during the training. I quickly became tired of this game, although I've kept going back to it, simply because the other game I've got for the GBA is getting on my nerves now. Which funnily enough also has a training session, but if you don't pass the training, then you don't get to play the rest of the game. The game's also very repetitive. You pick up the same passengers at the same places, and take them to the same destinations. If you change how much traffic there is on the roads in the options, then you do take them to different places, but I found I couldn't pick up as many passengers within the time limit. I managed to pick up nearly 20, but then it started repeating the destinations. Overall I would not recommend this game to anyone, unless it's very very cheap, which mine was. I like the style of the game, and would keep an eye out for similar styles of games, but not this.

GBA's Crazy Taxi,

I just bought this game and after playing it this is what I have come up with. Over all this game is pretty good but not perfect. Most people know the plot to Crazy Taxi but just incase you don't let me explain. You are a taxi driver who picks people up and speeds them off to where they want to go in the shortest time so they will give you more money. The first thing that I noticed was the turning was a little choppy- not smooth like mario cart but you can learn to get good at it. The next thing was the graphics. You can't compare GBA graphics to the arcade or to a Gamecube. The GBA isn't nearly as powerful so it will not have as good graphics. Once you realize that you find that the graphics are pretty good. They are not quite as good as they look on the box but are still good for GBA. Overall this is a simple addicting game that I have found to be pretty good.

Pros:
- Portable with the GBA Cons: - Horrible graphics. - Horrible soundtrack. - Very boring, have other GBA games that are very much funer and have better graphics. - PS2 version is mcuh better. - Mini games aren't even worth playing. Overall, if you mistaked to buy this, just playing if you have absolutely nothing else do to. To other people who are going to purchase this, don't, it's not as good as you think.

This game is pretty simple. What you do is 1. pick a driver 2. pick a city 3. go drive. The object of this game is to rack up money. The more money you get the better. There is 4 levels 1. normal (you pick up someone and you have x amount of time to deliver them and you repeat till you cna't deliver the passenger to there desired location. 2. 3 minutes 3. 5 minutes and finally 10 minutes. There also is 9 mini games which test your ablity to drive. The graphics are pretty good but the sound is nothing special. So i would recommend this game but it is not great.
