Book Description

July 1, 1996
Crazy Wisdom Tales for Dead Heads takes aim at readers who are captivated by trickster and prankster stories with a deep resonance and the scent of enlightenment. In a tradition with Ken Kesey's Merry Pranksters of the 60's, the Guide is a collection of magical, mystical, entertaining, and amusingly bizarre stories. Designed to bring forth an interactive experience for the reader, it creates a sense of being on an imaginative Trip into the hidden zones of crazy wisdom, where Startled Awareness awaits. Stories include unusual rituals, absurd prescriptions for action, and graphic illustrations.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lame, December 21, 2008
This review is from: Crazy Wisdom Tales for Dead Heads: A Shamanic Companion to the Grateful Dead (Paperback)
I was expecting this book to filled with interesting and legitimate rituals for DeadHeads. But, it was cheesy and lame. The only good thing about the book is the exotic pictures of iconic historical figurines doing ritualistic things. The author, it appears, knows nothing of pagan or other culture rituals and if anything, seems to be making fun of them intentionally or not. The book is short so it lacks content and substance. It is clearly not a scholarly piece of literature. In the end, it appears to be another book trying to make money off of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. How disappointing. The idea is good, execution pathetic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Concept, June 15, 2000
This review is from: Crazy Wisdom Tales for Dead Heads: A Shamanic Companion to the Grateful Dead (Paperback)
This book isn't just for deadheads, although it is aimed at them obviously, but has a little something for everyone who can think "outside of the lines" and is in search of wisdom. For deadheads in particular though, this is unlike any other book I have read on the topic, and it exlores the subject matter in a very different way than any other book I have read. Pick this one up, I'm pretty sure you'll find it a keeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enigmatic book for deadheads., January 16, 2003
By
This review is from: Crazy Wisdom Tales for Dead Heads: A Shamanic Companion to the Grateful Dead (Paperback)
This is quite a funky book. If you're a deadhead, you'll appreciate some of the storties and tales presented in this book. While some of them might appear silly or meaningless at first, you can find a surprising amount of wisdom and philosophy. This isn't necessarily a "must-have" for deadheads, but if you're looking for a light-hearted book on the spiritual side of the spectrum, then you might want to check this out. The title truly says it all!
