Book Description

Annual May 1996
A commodity is an agricultural product, mineral, or other tangible asset that investors trade on a cash or futures basis. They include such things as gold, orange juice, arsenic, stock index futures, and zinc. Each commodity is traded on its own exchange (for instance, the cocoa exchange is located in the World Trade Center) and at general exchanges such as the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Prices for each commodity are set by a combination of factors including weather, supply and demand, and historical trading patterns. This volume provides analysts, traders, and portfolio managers with domestic and international information on 105 commodities. It includes both historical information and current pricing and trading patterns on a monthly and an annual basis. While electronic charting programs provide some of this information, they do so at much higher prices, and the information does not reach as far back. In addition, charting services do not offer their subscribers the opportunity to compare commodities conveniently.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Compiled by the highly respected Commodity Research Bureau, one of Knight-Ridder's special commodity divisions, The CRB Yearbook is perhaps the most valued tracking resource in the commodity industry. Known as the "bible" among market analysts and traders since 1939, it provides crucial information on 105 domestic and international commodities, from alcohol to cocoa, stock index futures to zinc. It includes seasonal patterns and historical data from the past eight to ten years as well as current (as of the last three months) pricing and trading patterns on both a monthly and annual basis. It also offers immediate access to more than 1,000 indispensable charts, tables, graphs and maps that vividly illustrate such valuable information as supply and demand patterns, production/consumption figures and trading highlights.
