I'm sorry to give this book such a low rating, but it does not at all fulfill its "creaky knees" walks promise. In fact, one of the walks it recommends is one of the toughest in the area and, besides that, has a road available to drive to the top in place of the walk! It constantly comments that a walk is "tough on knees" - so why is it included in the book then? I am very disappointed, and didn't find many new places to walk without considerable impact on the knees.

I'm not necessarily in the "Creaky Knees" category yet, but I love this book because I'm an out-of-shape hiker looking for easier graded hikes. This book fits the bill perfectly. Written with a frank, humorous slant, the descriptions of the hikes never fail to amuse. My favorite part about this book is the hike categories. However, some of these hikes are quite a bit tougher, and I'm not sure I would specifically rate them suitable for "creaky knees." But all in all, a great addition to my hiking library.

Very readable style, well-researched, frank ratings on all trails. Enough hikes to get started and build in stamina. The book needs an overview map; provided maps don't show region.
