Ice Cream Scoop Sprinkles Whale Spade Sundae School

The ice cream scoop is heavy, has all smooth edges (so is safe for little ones to use) and cuts through the hardest ice cream as easily as you could scoop yogurt with a spoon. There have been many times I wanted some ice cream, but didn't want to go to the hassle of scooping it. This is the primo scoop for any ice cream lover. I have been using it now for two months and couldn't be happier...fatter and happy, but still happy.

The handle shape and balance are excellent for those with arthritis, too.

I bought this cute ice cream scooper from a Pier One Imports store.

After using it sparingly for 2 months and washing it by hand, even though it is dishwasher safe, the silver paint on the handle started to roll and peel off. Some of it was getting into my ice cream as well.

I returned it to Pier One, and they refunded my money back, no questions asked.

I also wrote to the company, Boston Warehouse, and they promptly apologized for the scooper and sent me a new scooper for free.

Though it does work great, cutting through the toughest of ice creams, the peeling paint disappointed me greatly.

I love the other Animal House items. The monkey peeler is great. The Piranha pizza cutter is amazing. The Whale Ice Cream Spade works well, but after a month or so of use, the metal coating is flaking off. I'm glad I eat vanilla ice cream, otherwise I wouldn't have seen the silver flakes.
I'm going to write to the company and return this to the store.

This is the best ice cream scoop I have ever used. Great gift for older folks or people with lesser strenght. It works great.

Great item and clever as to it's shape and weight. But the disappointment comes with the inside of the scoop's finish: first some unattractive pitting followed by the pits finish coming off (in the ice cream!!) leaving the purpose of this scoop useless if you care (and who doesn't?) about strange metals ending up in your favorite ice cream? Yeow!

I've seen other complaints about this and one would think Boston Warehouse would get their business together (how long have they been selling this?) and correct what could be a hazard to your health item. Boo them!

This scoop is a favorite for anyone that uses it. Many times our friends have put it to the test - we love to make ice cream and always bring our own scoop to their party. After digging with their scoop and getting frustrated, we hand them this one and watch as they light up in amazement of it's ease of use.

As for the peeling comments, not sure what that's about. Ours is a little over 3 yrs old, purchased from Target, and have not had a single issue with peeling. We wash in cold water, hot water, dishwasher - all kinds of stuff and still no signs of peeling. I love the design, the feel, but most importantly, the ease of use.

The only sign of wear on ours is that the blue rubber is beginning to tear. While it may be time for another scoop, I'm HIGHLY inclined to buy this same scoop again despite the possible paint peeling issues.

I love this ice cream scoop! It has a nice handle and is comfortable it grip. Plus it serves ice cream!

This is by far the best ice cream scoop we have seen. It is a seasonal item at Target. It cuts through ice cream like it is belted butter. We were looking to replace our old one because there were some metal flaws in the scoop. It is made in China and we have looked to complain but can't find a place to write.

We bought this because it is so cute. We've had it for about 2 years now and there are strange pits in the paint on the scoop. It started with one and now it's got several. It still works, I just hope there's no chemicals bleeding into my ice cream!

We've had this for about a year, and gave it as a gift to someone else. If you eat small amounts of ice cream (1 cup or less) it's perfect. It doesn't do large scoops, but it allows for a lot of control. It also washes very easily, as opposed to traditional scoops. Great accessory to the kitchen!
