This review is from: Create a Celebration: Ideas and Resources for Theme Parties, Holidays, and Special Occasions (Paperback)
Like any party ideas reference, this book lists themed parties suitable for kids' birthdays with food, games and activities ideas, but what I most enjoyed about it was its "off the beaten trail" holidays like May Day, Winter Solstice, and a Medieval 12th night dinner. It had a smaller section for more grown-up parties -- anniversaries and reunions, adult birthday's also filled with good ideas.
I enjoyed the background information for the holidays (though I think the Halloween section needs some historical fact checking) and LOVED the terms listed for each holiday or party -- sparking you to form you own ideas for the event. No book can cover it all, but this one is a great resource for party ideas.
