More About the Author

Like the Greatful Dead song says, "What a long, strange trip it's been". I am a fifth generation Californian who had a magical life in the golden era of California, from 1949 to 1996. In 1996, I left California for an even better life in Raleigh, NC. My family is the center of my life, as my wife, Judy, and I have been married over four decades, with two children and four (soon to be five) grandchildren. I write because I enjoy sharing stories and ideas with the reader. So, if you read my books you will remember the ideas because you will relate to the stories so you can implement the lessons you have learned. Here is a short version of my Experience, Education and Professional Activities.

In that capacity, I subdivided major parcels of land, custom built fine homes, and obtained zoning approvals from governmental agencies in the Los Angeles area.

Trial lawyer: I was a member of Young, Henrie & McCarthy and the Law Offices of John McCarthy from 1973 to 1975. During that time, I represented cities, developers, citizen groups and environmental organizations in trials and appeals involving real estate. I have been a California Attorney since 1973.

Tim Burrell has been developing quality material on negotiating for years, gaining tips from some of the top negotiating real estate agents in the country. He's made presentations to real estate groups, moderated panels, and arranged mock negotiations. This book is a compilation of the best of the best on negotiating, a critical skill for the successful real estate agent. Good negotiating skills help clients get better results - receiving more as a seller, and paying less as a buyer. Further, in many cases, good negotiating skills can mean the difference between closing a sale and losing a property. I highly recommend this book for agents who want to be more successful for themselves and for their clients.

The author is a former lawyer turned realtor who truly teaches you how to solve seemingly impossible difficulties when trying to get parties cooperative in a transaction. He is known for his "work arounds" meaning, how to solve complex problems in a creative and legal way.

He writes well, is earnest and, as a former professor, easy to understand and learn from.

If your negotiating skills need a tune up, he's the guy, for sure!

Good content and concepts, however, it would have been a much better book if it had been better designed and edited.

Great book.

Easy read.

A lot of helpful tips.

Most are common sense but they serve a good reminders of things that help deliver favorable results.

Thumbs up.
