Thoroughly creative and thought sparking,

Mr. Blakes brings a fresh voice to Texas rap and hip-hop in general. The lead single off this album, "bah-voo", is a classic record. Each track on this disc was thoughtfully crafted with care and skill. The production complements Bavu's top-notch writing impeccably. This album marks the beginning of much more to come from this thoroughbred m.c.

Definitely a Refreshing &Talented Up and Coming Artist,

It is nice to know that true hip-hop can still be found if you look in the right place. This album has a refreshing sound and is thought-provoking like very ver hip-hop albums of the past few years. I definitely recommend it to any hip-hop enthusiast or for anyone with an open mind to what hip-hop can and should be. A must have for any music fan's collection!

REAL HIP HOP,
By J Gar "JONBLAZE" (AUSTIN, TX) - See all my reviews

Bavu has created and hustled his way to become one of Texas' best lyricist, rappers, thought provokers, or whatever. On this album, Up^South opens with a perfect introduction to his style, which is somewhat old school production wise but not lyrically. Track 2 is Bah-Voo, a great single he released which kind sums up his name and his game. My favorite tracks are Overnight and a hidden track at the end of the album produced by DJ Nick Nack. The whole album is great and the dude has got it. Yet, he is still relatively unknown in the states, which appears to be fine by him. It's also fine with me, I like knowing and seeing great hip hop, especially live. This guy puts on a show, usually with a live band. His newer stuff shows how he is still creating and hustling and how there will NOT be any kind of sophomore slump from him. Look for the album Too Selfish coming soon from him!
