Liked the house but the train has issues,
This review is from: Create A Treat Create-a-Treat Gingerbread Ginger Bread Train Kit (Misc.)
We purchased a Halloween House from the same company and our 4yr old really enjoyed it however the Train has issues. The gingerbread is so hard when you go to break the specified piece it breaks other pieces, the structure is unstable so it makes it difficult to decorate, after all that then the engine ended up collapsing after sitting a few hours. After contacting the company, they mentioned it was an issue they are working to resolve in their 2010 model. I would avoid purchasing this.

Cute as the dickens and really not that hard to do. You will need adult supervision but it turns out great. Can't comment on the tastiness as we never actually eat our gingerbread creations. Definitely worth the $$$.

It was a fun project with a grandchild. The only difficulty was that the enclosed icing had hardened. We used what we could but what we did use took forever to firm up making for long waits before we could decorate the train. Had to end up making our own icing.Speel

Too much work and the end result not great!,
This review is from: Create A Treat Create-a-Treat Gingerbread Ginger Bread Train Kit (Misc.)
This set is far too much work and the end result is not all that great. First, you need to make the royal icing from the power (1 dirty bowl) and use a hand mixer to mix it until it forms peaks (one dirty tool and one that some parents may not have). Then, you need to take out about a cup of the icing and add in the red food coloring (2nd dirty bowl). Finally, you need to take out another cup of icing and add in the green food coloring (3rd dirty bowl). Since there is only 1 piping bag/tip for the kit, you would need to use your own Ziploc or piping bags to pipe the other two colors without color contamination (more mess and frustration). By the time we finished these prep steps, the kids had already lost interest in the entire project! So, the adults ended up doing the whole thing! Even with meticulous attention to the directions, the final result is just so-so. If you want martyrdom, this is it!Wouldn't it be be easier to have pre-mixed icing in plastic syringes so the joy is in decorating the gingerbread train rather than in struggling with making the icing???? I do not recommend this product.

I think the gingerbread pieces should all be seperate, they are very hard to seperate. Several of ours broke. Have issues as to how to display outside of the plastice tray that came to assemble it. All in all it is a mess. Hope we can show it without being a big joke on Christmas. Also, could not find the like for the video on your web side.Thank you and Happy Holidays.

My children had a good time doing this on x-mas, the only thing I had against is that you do have to help them sticking the train together and even then sometimes the train parts fall apart, the icing is not vey good at glue everything together. But it does some with enough candy for a nice decoration.
