Whether you live in a hilltop village in France or an apartment in New York, "Creating Cottage Style" is a wonderful resource for simple, inspiring ways to introduce cottage style to your home. In the first part of the book, Cottage Styles, Katherine Sorrell takes a tour of inspirational interiors from around the world, from the relaxed simplicity of Scandinavian style to the comfortable charm of the country homes of England. In "Cottage Rooms", Katherine guides you through every room in the home, while lavish photography highlights intriguing details along the way. This wonderful book provides a wealth of ideas for you to recrate at home--cover beds and pillows with toile de Jouy fabric, paint rooms in pale, soft colours, or disguise kitchen storage spaces with gathered panels of traditional fabric. -A treasure trove of ways to capture the essence of country living, whether you want to add handcrafted touches to your kitchen or redecorate your living room. -Includes 12 truly illustrated step-by-step projects for country-inspired details including pillows, curtains, bedspreads, and wreaths.
Having spent a childhood making things from scraps of fabric, egg boxes and washing up liquid bottles, Katherine has now progressed to collecting craft and writing about interiors and design.
In between she did an English degree, spent four years as a news reporter on a local tabloid and worked as a researcher at the BBC. A stint at Elle Decoration magazine confirmed her youthful enthusiasm for all things to do with making and decorating, and she went on to become Features Editor at Homes & Gardens.
Katherine was commissioned to write her first book, The Ultimate Home Style Guide, in 1997, and since then she has written 15 more, on houses, style, collecting and craft. She is about to start work on her 17th.
In 2002 Katherine moved to Cornwall, where she now lives with her family.
