Editorial Reviews

Review

"I find this text to be outstanding in terms of meeting the needs of our business students. It is basic enough for those with limited knowledge and complex enough to help students with a solid understanding of the program. This text allows students of all levels to succeed in the use of PowerPoint. As an aside, when I first received a copy of this book I went through it and could not believe how practical and clear the instructions were. I have recommended this book to a number of business people who inquired about where to find help on PowerPoint. Even though PowerPoint is user friendly, the tips offered in this text make the difference between delivering a mediocre presentation and delivering an outstanding presentation."

"I have used this text with great success. Before students worked through this text, they assumed they knew all about PowerPoint's features. After they completed the first four projects, they realized how little they actually knew. By the end of the semester, when they had successfully created an interactive web-based presentation, they were very pleased with their accomplishment. Students' comments on the course evaluation suggested that learning to use PowerPoint more effectively was a favorite feature of the course."

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely easy to use, April 14, 2000
I recommend this book for all Powerpoint users, from the beginner to the experienced. Not only does it present excellent powerpoint information but the Designer's Pointer are great! As a teacher, I struggle to find GOOD books that are useful in the classroom. I am pleased to find a book that not only incorporates the basics of the software but also supplies design pointers(tips). This book takes you step-by-step through building a powerpoint presentation. The activities are well developed, the introduction of the concepts are well presented. Someone who has never used PowerPoint before can be a novice user after completing the projects in this book. The book is written in plain English and it's layout is easy to use. This book is a must for all presentation users and every teacher needs a classroom set!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Meant For People Who Do Multimedia For a Living!, July 16, 2002
By A Customer
The title make it seem like it teaches you more than the instruction manual does. If you have an understanding of complex animation programs such as Flash or After Effects you can figure out how to do the tricks this book teaches on your own. I thought this book would be a step above the basic...but I was wrong.

Someone who does not do multimedia for a living may think the presentations you create with this book are dynamic...but for those of us who know better...nothing dynamic here.

If you are looking to do really "good" multimedia in PowerPoint...find another book.
