5.0 out of 5 stars The best health information you'd be blessed to get your hands on....., April 2, 2008
This review is from: Creating Heaven Through Your Plate: A Wholistic Eating and Self-Healing Guide (Paperback)
I've had the audacity to call the author for information, and I am even more impressed with how much of her knowledge she cares to share (even more than what the book has). She is a person who truly cares about communicating health in the way she answers questions and shares her own healing stories. Oh, and her organic sprouted flour is the very best (and most delicious) there is!!! It makes my recipes absolutely delectable. I order it at www.creatingheaven.net. (Whoever heard of cookies, cakes and bread that are actually healthy for you)? I'm a customer for life. Thanks Shelly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creating Heaven Through Your Plate is Truly Heaven!!, August 24, 2007
This review is from: Creating Heaven Through Your Plate: A Wholistic Eating and Self-Healing Guide (Paperback)
Excellent resource and cookbook outlining the major food groups and supplements to aid in the best digestion possible - a major contributor to health afflictions if not balanced!! Truly a good reference book if trying to lose weight, change bad dietary habits or even improve skin's appearance - truly a miracle! I lost 5 pounds the first week! Recommended for all who are still eating meat and potatoes, hamburgers, greasy foods, and fast foods -- and not feeling and looking your absolute best - time to make a change!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better that the caveman's diet - Here's why., September 5, 2011

This review is from: Creating Heaven Through Your Plate: A Wholistic Eating and Self-Healing Guide (Paperback)
Even though I've tried in the past to limit grains, I always found it hard to give them up in a realistic way. Shelly's diet does restrict all regular grains except corn and sprouted grains because these grains are easier to digest. Your body reads them as fruits instead of grains. The enzymes in sprouted grains help you digest them much more easily. I find this diet much more reasonable and easier to stay on than the caveman diet because you still can have dairy, sprouted grains and corn. Like the caveman diet, sugar is restricted, but occasional maple syrup sweetner is allowed. I usually just use stevia plus.

At 70 pounds overweight, I had given up thinking that I could lose weight and keep it off. I have lost 12.5 pounds in 5 weeks now. I can stay on this diet easily. I now know that I will be at a normal weight for the rest of my life. My chemical sensitivities have started to subside and I have lost all strong food cravings which have plagued me all my life. You don't have to give up all grains and dairy to achieve loss of food addiction cravings.

I think that some day Shelly's "essential eating" diet will be the most successful, long-term weight-loss plan out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Content Great, January 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Creating Heaven Through Your Plate: A Wholistic Eating and Self-Healing Guide (Paperback)
The content of this book is great. I have been on the first phase of the diet for 3-weeks now and the chronic sinus infections for which I have been suffering since I was in my mid 30's were gone after 3-days on the diet. I'm 50 now and have lived on antibiotics and sinus rinses for the past 15-years and it feels so great to finally feel good. As a bonus, I have lost 20 pounds in that time and BMI went from 34 to 29.

So, that's for the content of the book. This book really does need a revision to clear up some inconsistencies, typos, and omitted words. When put to print, the formatting appears to have been inadvertently changed in areas, which (I believe) changed the author's intended meaning (e.g. on the Super Cleanser Diet sheet).

The content is amazing and the results are surprising -- well worth over-looking the layout, formatting, omitted words, etc. issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent guide for healthy eating., January 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Creating Heaven Through Your Plate: A Wholistic Eating and Self-Healing Guide (Paperback)
This book provides you with guidance both in determining the types of foods that actually improve health and in obtaining and preparing those foods. It doesn't seem too complicated--eat only what your body wants!
