5.0 out of 5 stars Want to integrate the arts? You need this book!, March 25, 2009
This review is from: Creating Meaning Through Literature and the Arts: An Integrated Resource for Classroom Teachers (3rd Edition) (Paperback)
Claudia Cornett has created a comprehensive guide to integrating the arts into the curriculum. She gives you lots of reasoning and research to "make the case" and then goes on to devote the rest of the book to the "hows." Full of practical ideas that are very teacher-friendly, this book also provides the nuts and bolts of each art form so that general classroom teachers can get the background information needed to infuse the arts. If you are interested in bringing the arts into your classroom, this is truly the only resource you need to get started!

This review is from: Creating Meaning Through Literature and the Arts: An Integrated Resource for Classroom Teachers (3rd Edition) (Paperback)
The text book that I am reading for class, Creating Meaning Through the Ats & Literature, has some very good information and perspectives on integrating the arts into education. Unfortunately, the book is extremely repetitive and wordy - so much so that it's hard to get any meaning out of it. The Author could just as accurately have titled her book, "How many ways I can repackage and say the same things about the arts in education!" I really enjoy the class, the topic and even some of her points, but I can hardly get through the chapters before quitting in frustration and boredom.

Excellent resource to all teachers, especially those classroom teachers who wish to motivate their students to greater understanding. The arts provide a tool for teachers to make relevant the content they must teach and have students retain within the classroom.
