4.0 out of 5 stars Great, as long as you know a little bit before hand
This is a great book. I love it. But there is one thing that some people may be looking for in it that isnt there. This book will not tell you everything that you want to know about making a web page. It is exactly what the title says, it is a desk reference. I would not recommend it to a person that has no experience with web pages (mainly HTML), but if you know the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Beginners book
This book is really good if you absolutely don't know anything. It doesn't really tell you how to use the software beyond simple one page websites, which really doesn't help if you are trying to do something more involved. The data disk does however have some good software trail versions on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Above and Beyond, May 3, 2004
This review is from: Creating Web Pages All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies (Paperback)
Get this book, read it, and Boom! You're up to speed on website design and implementation.

Unlike many "For Dummies" books, Creating Web Pages is an in-depth look at the entire process, which begins at the entry level and quickly advances. The book claims to be 9 books in 1, and although 8 of these so-called books are not complete books in themselves, the information provided is detailed enough to allow a thorough analysis of several web creation programs, and includes a CD which provides a good look at: HTML, Frontpage, Dreamweaver, JavaScript, Flash MX, E-Commerce, and XML.

Wild Bill recommends this book for any beginner to intermediate level web creator out there. Don't be fooled by the for dummies format. This book is over 700 pages long and includes a usuable (for once) CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic but Helpful, November 23, 2007
Like most of the "dummies" books this one doesn't go into great detail about certain aspects of web design, but it is a great starting point for anyone with zero web design experience.

It walked me through the interface of Dreamweaver easily and within a few hours I had a page up and ready complete with links and flash buttons.

Again not good for the pro but great for the beginner.

5.0 out of 5 stars creating web pages for dummies, April 14, 2008
I am new to the whole web site building, so this book was for me. It gave me a basic understanding of web publishing, free tools available to create my web pages and how to add links, blogs and graphics to my web site.
This book though, does not go into great detail about web design so if that's what you are looking for, this is not for you.
This is for the beginner who wants to get a feel for the process and what it takes to get a web site up and running.
I found it very helpful in getting me started on the road to creating great web sites.

3.0 out of 5 stars decent place to start, July 30, 2009

These dummies books have been pimped out to every known possible thing in the world. its helpful and covers many topics(css, html, xhtml, design, ect.) but if i could go back in time, i wouldn't buy this again. It covers too many topics too briefly. so in the end you get a fat book, but not enough knowledge so then you'll probably have to go back and buy the CSS for dummies, then the HTML for dummies, then web design for dummies. blah blah blah

As a complete newbie to web pages, this book was a tremendous help in understanding the processes involved in creating, publishing and maintaining a website. I'm a Mac user and found the info very helpful. Many books don't adequately deal with Mac systems. This one did.

3.0 out of 5 stars Creating Web Pages for Dummies, August 29, 2008
This is a pretty good book for beginners trying to learn how to create a web page, but it's a little confusing and the CD included with the book does not include any part of either Dreamweaver or Microsoft Expression Web. From the cover, one is led to believe that abbreviated versions of these are included on the CD. Instead, the CD has Nvu and links to other useful places.

3.0 out of 5 stars creating web pages, January 6, 2012

The book was what you would expect from a Dummies book. Very helpful. No CD was included. I would recommend this book for easy reference.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed, September 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this for my husband because he has been talking about learning how to build websites. He says that it is too outdated and every tool he looks up to use that is in the book, he either can not find or it is way too expensive to purchase. He hates it and I feel it was a wasted purchase, I should have went with the current copy.
