5.0 out of 5 stars It's Great, June 26, 2000
Creating Special Effects for TV and Video is a good primer on everything from action sequences to car crashes. Each section is split across two pages - half explanation and half diagrams providing very valuable information on almost every subject pertaining to special effects.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good reference book, June 24, 2011
By

As far as classical special effects go this is a good reference book. Even though it has it's merits I think it's a bit pricey and doesn't go into depth on how to create the said effects. I feel the more classical effects are described the best, whereas the "computers" pages were just thrown in to seem with it. That's cool, I really wanted to know about the classical way of doing it. All in all a good read, however I suggest you have a look at the book to see if it is what you really want, because there are more detailed books in the same price range. This one will hardly leave you ready to make car chases for your indie-film, it will however give you some insight in how a lot of the good old film effects were/is made.
