Book Description

July 1994
Many typical woodshops are works in progress and have been set up haphazardly over time, often at the expense of efficiency, safety and ultimately woodworking comfort. By offering a plan for any size and location of shop, this book solves your woodshop planning problems and will even help you redesign an existing inefficient shop. Topics covered include electrical, lighting, zoning permits, dust collection, workflow and much more.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Most sawdust eaters probably don't have the time (not to mention money or energy) to devote weeks of effort to making their woodshops better, easier, and safer places to work. Those who do, though, should thumb through these pages. Most of us put tools in the basement, or maybe the garage, in a haphazard manner. Self makes us realize that putting some thought and effort into designing an actual shop will pay dividends down the road. Although most serious woodworkers know the basics of construction, the author's chapters on how to build a freestanding workshop--from pouring the foundation to painting the walls--are excellent. This text, aimed at a crowd who may not be listening, amply demonstrates that they should be. Jon Kartman
