More About the Author

A prolific and influential scholar known to believers and skeptics alike as "the father of modern creation science," Dr. Henry M. Morris truly was a man of science and a staunch man of God. He was even said to have set the terms of debate about evolution for the second half of the 20th century by one Pulitzer Prize-winning academician. Dr. Morris began his serious study of the Bible in the 1930s and authoring books in the 1940s, but it was his landmark work, co-authored with Dr. John Whitcomb, titled The Genesis Flood in 1961 that influenced generations to begin discovering the fallacies of evolution and the biblical truth of creation.

With over 60 books, founding and leading the Institute for Creation Research (ICR), Dr. Morris' death in 2006 was a profound loss to millions.

Dr. Morris created a thriving legacy that continues to equip many Christians to be able to defend the accuracy and authority of Scripture today. The new Henry Morris Study Bible and other resources that he developed remain essential sources of knowledge and understanding for believers.

This weekend I finished reading Henry M. Morris' Creation and the Second Coming. Tim LaHaye is quoted on the back cover saying that he couldn't put this book down... "yeah, right," I thought as I started this 191 page book. I was looking forward to reading it, and it did look interesting, but I was pretty sure I'd be able to put it down.

Wrong.

I've been on a bit of a prophecy kick lately, and I also love creation science and teachers who can tie the big picture of the Bible together in an understandable way. This book covered all of those bases, and did it in a very conversational and understandable manner!

Morris is well known in creation science circles as the author of the classic The Genesis Flood, and he has also written a commentary on the book of Revelation. Combine these two areas of personal study and expertise, and it makes Creation and the Second Coming a unique and insightful read.

As the book states, in order to understand the end, we must understand the beginning. With this premise, Morris weaves together an argument for Christ's imminent return based on a vast overview of Biblical prophecy, discusses "current" world events in light of prophecy (this book was published in 1991, so these sections are dated but still insightful), and gives his unique perspective on what Christ's millennial kingdom and New Jerusalem may be like. I read this book in two days, highlighting and marking frequently as I went... and I had many "aha!" and "interesting..." moments along the way!

One of the parts of this book that I most enjoyed was Morris' look, from a Christian scientific perspective, at how the creation was groaning under the curse, and how it very well might be restored to antediluvian (pre-flood) state for the millenial kingdom.

It is a refreshing change to see creationists coming up with sensible and logical commentary that is scientifically sound, yet almost irrefutable. I very much enjoyed this book. Inspiring especially for those of us surrounded with evolutionists or atheists that choose to believe almost anything else but creation. A good read as is anything by Morris. Dane Thomas

Dr. Henry Morris, who was an esteemed expert and author on creationism, connected the facts of creation from Genesis with the prophecies that point to the second coming of Christ in his book "Creation and the Second Coming." Dr. Morris highlights the importance of looking at scripture as a whole in order to more fully grasp and appreciate the events that are leading to Christ's return.

Like other doctrinally-sound books on end times prophecy, Dr. Morris explained the specific events that are to happen before the triumphal return of Christ. Unlike the aforementioned types of books, Dr. Morris linked these prophetic truths to the very beginning of creation and explains that God has a plan that was put into motion at the very beginning of time.

I found "Creation and the Second Coming" not only an insanely-interesting read, but an important book to pass on to other Christians. Prophecy makes more sense when understood within the context of God's grand scheme. It's both refreshing and reassuring!

I just finished this book after taking nearly two weeks to read it (highly unusual for me). I was at first intrigued by it because I have always been deeply interested in biblical prophecy, but am not very educated in the subject. The book of Revelation has always been a struggle for me on my own, so I look for help when I can get it! This book is different from many other books on prophesies of the last days because it lays out in a very detailed, straightforward way how Revelation not only explains to us the events that will unfold, but also shows how even at the end of days, everything relates back to the BEGINNING of days, when God created everything.

I have to admit that the first half of this book was slightly dry. I struggled through it. Although the content was interesting, it was written with a textbook style that I just could not relate to. The second half, however, changed things for me and grabbed my attention in such a way that I had trouble putting the book down! I don't necessarily think that the writing style changed, but to me the content had me captivated. Dr. Morris laid out the rapture, tribulation, and the 1,000 year reign of Jesus in such a way that quite honestly had my heart pining for that day when He returns!

All in all, this is a great read for anyone wanting to learn more about the prophesies in Revelation and how they relate to the Creation and the last days. I do feel that I should point out that this book was first published in 1991, so some information is slightly outdated.

Creation and the Second Coming is unique among both Creation and Prophecy genre's in that it shows how the two are intertwined. Morris shows from Scripture that in order to understand the end-times you must understand the beginning.

Morris covers topics such as evolution, Darwinism, slavery, apostasy, occultism, and even science and technology, and shows how they correspond to the end-time events.

Morris also steps through the end-time events such as Gog and Magog, Israel becoming a nation, Babylon, the seven-year tribulation, Daniel's 70th week, the two witnesses, the image of the beast, the woman in the wilderness, the anti-christ, the millennium, the final judgment, and more, and shows how this war of Satan's began at the beginning.

This is primarily a book on prophecy, but instead of only focusing on the end-times Morris shows events in history, such as the trouble in the Middle East, and how they all tie together with end-time events. Morris shows how the signs that are given in Scripture of the second coming directly stem from humanism. Morris even explains why we can't know the time of the rapture.

This book is a fascinating look into end-time events. I was especially interested in the points about science. This book is much needed because it not only covers the `how' of the end-time, but also covers the `why'. Without the `why', the purpose of the tribulation and second coming loses its impact. I highly recommend Creation and the Second Coming by Henry Morris.
