We've been warned... September 7, 2011
Format:Paperback
Michael Strauss offers us an honest assessment of the current state of Travel Distribution, how we got here and what we can expect in the future.

Most importantly, he is sounding an alarm bell with a very clear-eyed prediction of how disruptive newcomers will seize opportunities away from entrenched players.

His premise is sound: "Business as usual" in a world that is every day more "unusual" is the surest way to miss-out on opportunities.

Like in many other industries now disrupted, the entrenched channels in travel distribution are slowly being eroded through a combination of new models, new technologies, new participants and new customers - on a global scale. For those who have made a life out of "travel distribution" as we know it, attempting to preserve a "status-quo" will surely result in awakening one day and wondering "where have all our jobs gone?".

Michael is to be commended for his refreshing and sober analysis.

Up in the air November 2, 2010

Although the chapter titles seem sometimes over the top (using words like revolution, evolution), the content of this book doesn't cast any doubts on the author's predictions. Some of them have already been proven right!! I'm convinced that future developments in the travel industry and especially in travel distribution will turn the predicted ways. Thus, the information provided in this book will be of interest for readers with various backgrounds from hospitality, transportation, IT or economics. The author's controversial perception of industry developments have led to lively discussions between me and my co-workers. I think this book should be considered a kind of handbook for travel representatives looking for a long-term strategy for their business decisions. At least this is what we use it for.
