To be absolutely honest..When I first received Creative Cloth Doll Couture
I was disappointed, Know how creative Patti Medaris Culea is , is just beyond words,
I have all her books, Creative Cloth Doll Couture at first glance I thought oh no! This isn't my style
of creating my dolls, I thought !!!
BUT as you truly dive into each and every page of Creative Cloth Doll Couture's
You will learn not only knowledge but wisdom also!
I am learning so much about creating a dolls clothing for ANY type of dolls, learning about
"ALL THE HOW TO DO IT'S"
From :body construction, making darts, how to draw a face , face sculpturing, 3 piece heads, jointed legs,
straight legs and so much more
How to create Clothing, and Accessories, Learn from creating clothes from Fairy, Whimsical, Formal,
BIGGEST thing I have wanted to learn was the different types of materials, this book tells ya!!!!
collage, layering,appliques' fiber and transfers
I HIGHLY recommend this book..from beginners to advanced!

This book begins with directions to make the doll. This is good, because you are not forced to buy a separate book for this. Most importantly this is a book for the truly creative, for those who want something different. If you need inspiration and ideas, this book is for you, there are a few galleris of examples throughout the book. The cloths range from all the pieces of a skirt suit (including lingerie and shoes) to 60's bell bottoms to fairy-ware. They are colorful, unusual and some are high fashion evening ware. The pictures are great and the instructions seem clear (I have not made any of the clothes yet. Unfortunately there are more gallery pictures than patterns, that is my only complaint. There is engough of the basic theory to help you design some simple clothes on your own. I have all three books in this series and they are all very good!

For the avid doll maker this book is full of inspiration and information. I highly recommend this book, regardless of your skill level at sewing. I can not sew well, but the directions make it easy to follow basic patterns. The pictures are beautiful and the book is a job to look at. Truely a must have for any cloth doll maker!

This is a must get book! I am a beginner doll maker and you should see my first doll. I got so motivated,I want to make more .What a inspiring book and buying it from Amazon was the lowest price. I saved $10 from Amazon rather then getting it from other sites. Sherry Collier

Good book. I really love to see all the different dolls made by so many artists and it is nice to have ideas for clothes and embelishments to make them be truely unique. Patterns are nice to have and help to create some great dolls.

This book is a must have as a dollmaker. I have taken classes with this wonderful author. She is a genius when it comes to cloth dollmaking. This book is a must. It is informative and has wonderful patterns and ideas.

I bought this book because of the word 'making'. I needed information and inspiration for making doll clothing. I underestimated the word 'couture':the book is a fashion exercise in creating dolls with all sorts of leanings - forties, hippie, way-out clothes.
I expected pictures - but what pictures! Beautiful dolls with wonderful clothes, printed on quality paper. Detailed information on the 'how-to's' for some of them, and full lists of the (sometimes numerous) items needed to make the dolls.
A list of suppliers in different countries is provided, patterns for the basic doll, and patterns for two outfits.
If the word 'doll' means something glamorous, something you can put all your energy into, then this is the book.

i was hoping that this book would help me with costuming my dolls by creating clothes that were draped on the doll body..a wonderful book for making structured doll clothes and a must have doll makers book! i gave it 4 stars because i still have no clue on how to "drape a fantasy" costume

Wonderful book with patterns for an inspiring cloth doll and some exotic outfits -fairy, hippy, 1940s. Be advised that Culea's later work 'Creative Doll Collection' (a thicker and more comprehensive work) reproduces quite a lot of the designs here!
