This book wasn't exactly what I expected from the title. It's basically about crafting fifteen home décor projects with (among other decorations) lettering, as opposed to a book about creating ornamental lettering for any project. Of course, the reader can use any of the author's lettering techniques on other projects, but the emphasis is on crafting a particular item such as a gilded letter desk set from beginning to end. The first 25 pages discuss basic techniques such as rubber stamping and découpaging. The following 92 pages detail the fifteen individual projects. This well-illustrated, 8 1/2 x 11" book ends with five pages of templates, a resource guide, and an index.

The fifteen projects are: `Smile! Silver Frame' (embossed metal); `Celtic Lettered Flowerpot' (brush lettering); `Découpaged Wine Tray' (découpage with computer lettering); `Gilded Letter Desk Set' (stamped polymer clay); `Family Wall Tiles' (stenciling and découpage); `Good Clean Fun! Faux Etched Mirror' (stenciling); `Romantic Monogrammed Box' (decoupage); `Italian Bread Basket Tray' (stenciling and brush lettering); `Baby Memory Box' (stenciling and hand lettering); `Create! Bulletin Board' (stamped polymer clay, stenciling, and hand lettering); `Caffeine Canister' (stamped polymer clay and rubber stamping); `Tea Time Chair Shelf' (computer-generated lettering, paper antiquing, and découpage); `Tumbled Marble Tabletop' (computer-generated lettering, paper antiquing, rubber stamping, and découpage); `Standout Spice Box' (computer-generated lettering, stenciling, and rubber stamping); and a `Friendship Pillow' (computer-generated lettering, hand lettering, and sewing).

Each of the projects has a very detailed `Materials and Tools' list. Each step in the creation of the project is both texted and illustrated. Variations on each project are also suggested, e.g. the techniques for crafting the `Standout Spice Box' can also be used to create a scrapbook memory page.

"Creative Craft Lettering Made Easy" is well-written and beautifully illustrated. It's just not what I expected from the book's title.
