5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to play with but VERY fragile
My daughter loves to play with her princess karaoke machine but I have had to replace the microphone with a more durable one (after about only 3 weeks.) I also always have to help her close the front after she puts in a disc. It always takes many tries to get the front to close. Good concept but poor manufacturing quality.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a Boom Box
The picture is misleading, this has little plastic disks resembling CDs but does not play CDs. The whole thing is a LOT smaller than it looks in the picture, and the sound is terrible.

2.0 out of 5 stars A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT, October 22, 2002

The picture is very misleading. Now I know why there wasn't a more thorough description. It only plays the little plastic cd's that come with it, and each cd only has 1-2 songs each. The sound quality isn't very good, either. My 3 year old plays with it (she is a princess fanatic), but she is disappointed that there aren't any more songs than those available.

3.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Sound Quality, June 18, 2003

The sound quality is truly awful. To begin with, the songs don't sound like the ones in the movies -- they sound like they were recorded by different singers with harsher, less pleasant voices. And THOSE voices are distorted by the poor quality of the audio player, so that they sound static-y, like a radio that isn't quite on the right station. After my daughters received this as a gift, we thought that the sour crackly music was due to batteries that had run down in the store, so we replaced them -- but the sound was the same.

2.0 out of 5 stars Save your money!, November 16, 2002

My 4-year-old daughter received this for her birthday. Although she likes it (she likes anything pink and princessy), she gets bored and frustrated with it. The door and "discs" are difficult to work. The sound quality is awful. You have to position your mouth right next to the microphone for it to pick up your voice. It is very limited because it only plays the 3 discs that come with it. After the first week or so, she hardly ever plays with it. There must be a better alternative. Save your money.

I bought this toy for my daughter's 4th birthday. It was her favorite toy. Two days later the microphone plug broke. Then the toy quite playing the fake cds. Now when she turns it on it lights up but no sound comes out. I changed the batteries and it still doesn't work. Instead of buying this toy I would recommend a real cd player and Disney cds.

My daughter received this as a birthday gift from my Mother at my request. I really wish I had taken the time to go and look at it myself. While it is an exceptionally cute little toy for a girl, it's most definitely NOT worth the money! I for one, have no problem with the volume--at times I pray that my 4 year old will turn it off. It's loud enough but, as the other reviewers have mentioned, the quality stinks. I was extremely disappointed with the mediocre vocals and altogether quality of the songs. Something I have not heard mentioned--neither the disks nor the radio button feature the full songs, only excerpts! In addition, the microphone may be difficult for the younger toddlers to use. There is a little button that must be held down continuously in order for the mic to work. A bit tedious for the little ones, I would think. Also, with the limit of only the few songs allowed and NO WAY to add others, it becomes quite boring after a while. Still, I must concede that my 4 year old loves it. This is the ONLY reason I had to give it three stars for fun...my child's point of view. She carried it around for 4 days straight and even her amateur little voice improved on the 'fake' Disney vocals. While she no longer continuously totes it around, it still gets daily use. I think it's just because she doesn't know what she's missing with a real karaoke machine, even a low-end one, which could be bought for only a few dollars more. I am surprisingly disappointed in Disney...we are very loyal to their products and usually, we are quite pleased. Not this time--I highly recommend to buyers that they spend the extra money, buy the real thing, and put pretty stickers on it :-)

This toy did not work from day one. Every time you push the button to sing, the music goes off. The sound quality is so poor you can barely hear the lyrics over the staticky music. Save your money

This was a gift for my four and a half year old daughter. She LOVES this toy. The sound quality is not that great, but she loves the songs and loves to sing as loud as she can.

For the price, I think it is a great toy for a "Diva in training".
