Excellent book - perfect for beginners to experienced home-makeup chemists, December 30, 2005
This review is from: Creative Faces: Make Your Own Makeup (Paperback)
This is a beautifully presented book, with gorgeous photo images. The recipes are easy to use, the ingredients mostly easy to find and natural. I would have appreciated just a little more information on color blending, but I plan to do my own experimenting anyway. Excellent job. Highly recommended.

Limited information, May 17, 2009
This review is from: Creative Faces: Make Your Own Makeup (Paperback)
Very limited information
Lots of pretty pictures but all the formulas use the same basic ingredients which include talcum,
wich some people do not use and Constarch and magnesium stearate which I am allergic to. There are no alternatives given and the same ingredients throughout the book.
If you can use these ing. you might like this book.
She uses potato starch, what?
It is all very simplistic and realy short of information.
There are no preservatives used in some cream and lotion formulas that contain water.
She does use prabens and germaben II (preservatives) for other items.
Some of the oil based formulas do not have an antioxidant added and therefore have a shorter shelf life. Some formulas do not need antioxidants, but I like to add them to help prevent rancidity.
There are a lot of color ideas, but with measurments given as "a few grains", it is hard to achieve consistency.
However with so few books out there on how to make mmu, this one might work for you if you are new to mmu and are ok with the ing. she uses.

Not as informational as I would've liked, July 15, 2006
This review is from: Creative Faces: Make Your Own Makeup (Paperback)
This book is full of colorful pictures, but I'm afraid short on the information I hoped to find within. If you are just begining to make your own cosmetics, this MIGHT have information you can use; however, for the person hoping to find new information concerning formulas, etc., no such luck.
