3.0 out of 5 stars Very good under limited conditions
I bought the T20W speakers along with the Express slot transmitter. The setup is easy if you know anything about your computer and operating system (and you should). The sound was great for small, portable speakers. Now for the limited conditions: 1. I could not use them in my backyard, sixty feet away, because there were three walls between my notebook transmitter and...

I bought these speakers and the Sound Blaster wireless audio transmitter for my son for Christmas. I plugged in the speakers and hooked them up via the direct audio cable to gauge the sound. I thought I had to install the software and pair the speakers to get them running on wireless but as I plugged in the transmitter I thought I would just uplug the audio cable to see what happens. Sure enough the music from his laptop was streaming wirelessly to the speakers. The sound is clear and continuous. The base is good enough for a medium-sized room. There was some distortion when you crank the volume up beyond about three quarters but that was the only drawback. Remeber this is only through the usb transmitter and no additional stations were needed for same room sound.

I bought the T20W speakers along with the Express slot transmitter. The setup is easy if you know anything about your computer and operating system (and you should). The sound was great for small, portable speakers. Now for the limited conditions: 1. I could not use them in my backyard, sixty feet away, because there were three walls between my notebook transmitter and the T20W speakers. I realize obstacles reduce reception, but this was excessive. 2. Not having the ability to control anything but volume, was the reason I returned the components. These speakers need the same four-function control panel that is incorporated in the SB1122 wireless receiver (i.e. play/pause, previous/next). And it would be simple to do because all these components are part of the X-Fi family. If you intend to use the speakers in a different section of the house than the computer, I suggest using the separate wireless receiver so you can plug it into any (powered) speakers you prefer, and still have basic remote contol of your music.

I bought them for my laptop and having music all around my apartment. The sound is great. Although it took me about 30 minutes to get them working and reading several times the tiny instructions but everything sounds excellent with no delay. Definitely recommend them. I got them through another store which were cheaper than Amazon.com.

Great sounding (despite being fairly small) speakers without the wires. But wire between the left and right speakers could be longer, and they don't get the wireless signal very well if there are to many walls

I like the sound of this speakers I would really recommend them to someone who doesn't have plenty space to spare. The price is good. If you need good sounding speakers this would be a good replace for a computer or a tv. Sound great with MP3 players.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this product!, November 26, 2010

I purchased these speakers and a transmitter based on Amazon's recommendation. They do not work together. The speakers are probably fine if you connect them via the RCA jacks on the back, but then what would be the point of having wireless speakers?

The included instructions are criminally bad. The english language instructions consist of pictures of how to connect your new (and expensive) speakers via the RCA jacks. There is not one word about how to get them to work wirelessly. I also purchased an X-Fi transmitter, and while it works, no signal is found by the speakers - 6 feet away from the transmitter.

I visited the company's web site and found the exact same 'instructions' on how to connect using the RCA jacks. Their knowledgebase contains lots of advertising verbage, but no real information on their products.

Terrible product, terrible instructions and documentation, terrible web site, and no support. You cannot even send them an email to beg for help.

Do not buy this product.

I ordered this set of speakers only to find it needed a specific transmitter, not a generic bluetooth adapter. I then ordered the proprietary dongle only to find it was for yet a different set of wireless speakers. After three orders I finally purchased another set of wireless speakers and returned these. I never did hear if they were of good quality or not. By the way the customer service you can expect from Creative is next to useless. There is no way to get a quick answer. You can only send an email and wait.......

These are great speakers,
BUT dont be mislead, they ONLY work with certain Creative wireless transmitters, not all, for example it was suggested that I get the X-mode wireless transmitter bundled up, BUT it does not work together.

The USB stick one works well but documentation is scarce

If you have a problem, then count on a long search, as documentation is VERY scarce, just one fold out page, not clear at all. Neither is the customer service.

Once you have figured it out, then, it's great. So I hesitate between a 1 and a 5 star rating. Was upset as I had to fork out another 100$ unexpectedly, as my prime aim was wireless speakers.
To have a system where you have 2 plugs for power (110v) plus leads from a receiver to speakers, which are supposed to be wireless is nonsense.

But determination got me there (+100$) now I have just the speakers plugged in and the stick on my PC, some 20 yrds away.
Sound quality is excellent.

3.0 out of 5 stars not really wireless, May 6, 2010

I have recently been trying to reduce the number of cords I have around my desk. I purchased these speakers along with the usb transmitter. The speakers sound really good to me, good bass in a small package. There is a cable that runs between the 2 speakers as well as a power adapter though. The cord is also rather short so it makes it hard to place the speakers on opposite sides of the room. I was able to get an RCA cable extension to solve that problem but now I still have a cord running across my computer room. I had thought these might be powered by batteries or at maybe separate power sources for left and right speakers but that was not clear in the product description. I am still happy with my purchase since it allowed me to move my speakers off of my desk.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dont work with the standalone transmitter, August 18, 2010
By
This review is from: Creative GigaWorks T20W Series II Wireless Multimedia Speaker System with BasXPort Technology (Personal Computers)
Note that these only work wireless with the laptop card transmitter. If you get the standalone wireless transmitter/receiver kit like I did and expect to use these as another receiver, you are mistaken. I am referring to this "Creative Labs Xmod Wireless Music System with X-Fi Technology". I bought and tried, and it would not work. Contacted Creative, and they told me "sorry, it doesn't work." I said what??????? They have the same wireless technology logo on their packaging!!! These products come from the same company!!! Probably from the same engineering group!! And they can't talk to each other? Come on, who's genius idea was that? What a joke. Speakers too expensive for that feature not to work. Returned speakers but kept the wireless transmitter/receiver kit (which is a good deal and works great).
