5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Inspiring Projects
I was interested in learning more about fusing and slumping and this book meet all of my expectations and then some. It has 32 beautiful projects, and I can honestly say that I felt the itch to make about 90% of them. If you have been looking for an excuse to buy a kiln, then get this book. 3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty but shallow
I bought this book based on reviews from this page. I agree that the projects are beautiful and the artist very talented. The book is not really a "how to" in my opinion as it gives very sketchy technical information on all three glass techniques. I would not feel comfortable investing in an expensive kiln and supplies or attempting these projects without...

I was interested in learning more about fusing and slumping and this book meet all of my expectations and then some. I agree with the other reviewers that the section on Lampwork was very limited. From the table of contents there are 48 pages / 12 projects on Fusing, 67 pages / 17 projects on Painting, and 10 pages / 3 projects on Lampwork.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspriational artwork, Easy to follow, May 2, 2000
This review is from: Creative Glass Techniques: Fusing, Painting, Lampwork (Paperback)
This is one of the coolest books I have ever found. It is fantastic tool for learning to fuse & paint glass. The projects are truly spectacular & step-by-step instructions along with full color photos make it easy enough for anyone to follow.

The first section features 12 fusing projects. Some include a plate, necklace, bowls, & a modern wall hanging. The next section includes 17 glass painting projects, some are used to adorn the previously made projects.

You learn decal printing & stippling techniques as well as how to work with clear adhesive film & liquid resist. Application of precious metals, crystal ice, paints & lusters is also covered.

The lampwork section is short including instruction for a planter ornament & a reshaped wine goblet. Both projects are simple, but produce stunning results. My only wish was for a list of suppliers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great intro to all there is in the glass world, February 12, 2001

There's so much to do with glass, it's hard to know where to start. If you are interested in glass, but want to know more about the various aspects of what you can do with glass, this is a very good place to start. There are many examples of projects for fused glass, stained glass, lampwork, painting, etc. None of them are total in-depth, but this is a good cross-type of intro. I enjoyed it and got many inspired ideas from this book. I enjoy, especially, fused glass and this was a good basic review.

I bought this book based on reviews from this page. I agree that the projects are beautiful and the artist very talented. The book is not really a "how to" in my opinion as it gives very sketchy technical information on all three glass techniques. I would not feel comfortable investing in an expensive kiln and supplies or attempting these projects without reading a far more thorough treatment of the subject first. It is very inspirational to look at: pretty but shallow.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty interesting., September 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Creative Glass Techniques: Fusing, Painting, Lampwork (Paperback)
I felt this book was inspiring. And covered glass painting pretty well. But It did not give a list of suppliers for these meterials. The information is clear and the photos are very nicly done. However the author assumes that the reader knows a more about this subject and is not technical enough.

3.0 out of 5 stars not for anyone interested in lampworking, August 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Creative Glass Techniques: Fusing, Painting, Lampwork (Paperback)
Although the sections on fusing and painting glass are extensive, the lampworking section is very rudimentary. Those interested in this topic would better be served by looking at the excellent Cindy Jenkins book 'Making Glass Beads'.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a must have for fusers., February 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Creative Glass Techniques: Fusing, Painting, Lampwork (Paperback)
This book is excellent. Of all the books I have purchased on fusing, this is the one I keep going back to. The information is presented in an understandable and straight forward manner. Bettina Eberle covers a wide variety of techniques that will allow the reader to expand their abilities. The projects in this book are ones you really want to do. The projects are very detailed and the techniques used are fully explained. If you are looking for ideas and accurate instructions for a variety of beautiful fusing projects, this book is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth having but not the only book you'll need., August 5, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Creative Glass Techniques: Fusing, Painting, Lampwork (Paperback)
This book was very inspiring and introduced me to possibilities that I hadn't been exposed to. Since I just started learning about fused glass, and have taught myself how to do it out of books, this exposure is great. However, as a beginner, this wasn't the best 'first howto book'. The author assumes that the reader knows what various tools or items are and where to get them... when I don't. It's worth having in your glass library.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous introductory and advanced glass book, November 16, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Creative Glass Techniques: Fusing, Painting, Lampwork (Paperback)
This book covers a wide range of techniques and is an excellant book for beginners and also has some things to offer the intermediate glass artists. Many pictures offer step by step examples of techniques as they are explained in the text. Contemporay and well layed-out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Encouraging start up, April 18, 2002

With no experience in glass work, this book is very encouraging for the beginner. Exercises are simple and clear to understand.
But I find the content of the projects very kitch, especially the finished works in the painting on glass section. I would have preferred if the creative quality be of far greater substance.
I am comming from an art/design profession, so the designs are not inspiring to me at all. Its approach may be too sunday hobbiest for practicing artists/designers.
