Excellent Speaker System,
This review is from: Creative Inspire P5800 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System (Personal Computers)
I grudgingly decided to get a new PC speaker system after the "puck" controller on my Monsoon 3-piece system went bad (Monsoon is out of business so replacement parts are not available). Quality sounds means alot to me as I constantly listen to mp3's and streaming audio while at my desk, I am also an avid gamer (BF2, Doom3, etc).
I read all of the reviews and system specs here for speaker systems under $100.00 and went down to the local computer shop and listened to several on the display rack. I settled on this system for the following reasons: 1) Price, at $58.00 it's under my budget 2) Manufacturer, Creative Labs has been around for ages and arent leaving any time soon (so replacement parts will be available if needed). 3) The reviews buy users here were mostly positive. 4) The puck controller, it has on/off, speaker volume, sub-volume and a headphone jack right on the puck. No more hunting for the headphone jack on my PC case with that feature. I was a bit put off when I got the system because the components were physically "lighter" than my Monsoon system. That feeling was misplaced because this system actually sounds MUCH better than my Monsoons. It is clearer on the highs and the lows are much more defined as well. The sub volume control is nice because you can turn the sub volume completely off if you need to. I'm often working or gaming when everyone else is the home is asleep and it's easy for me to control the noise level so the sub doesnt carry as much. All in all it's a very good system and I don't think you'll be dissapointed if your looking for a PC setup. On a side note, you need a sound card that supports surround sound (3-speaker outputs), I have a "Soundblaster LIVE" and it works well. These cards are also fairly inexpsensive if you need one.

No Complaints- Awesome speaker for the price!,

I spent weeks looking for an affordable speaker with my new pc and finally decided on this one inspite of reading some mixed reviews. I been using this for over 3 months now on everday basis for my music, tv and dvds and I have to say I'm completely satisfied with the performance c'mon I got it for under $80, I shouldn't be whining. With the Creative SB X-fi it's pretty loud & sounds good since I can adjust the settings to my sound preference. Now if you have have an extra $400 laying around then go get the Bose multimedia speaker. As for me, if this one fails after a year, I'll probably get another one.

Good Sound System for the Computer,
By
This review is from: Creative Inspire P5800 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System (Personal Computers)
This is an amazing sound system for the computer. For a true 5.1 sound, the pc needs to have a sound card that supports 5.1 and 3 3.5 outputs for the woofer, front and rear speakers. For those who have the traditional single 3.5 output(but the sound card supports 5.1), a usb adapter for 5.1 is needed. If you use the auxillary input, you'll only get a 2.1 effect.
I think one main drawback of this system is the length of the rear speaker wires. And they cannot be also supplemented with additional wiring. This restricts the placement of the rear speakers. But the price and the quality of the speakers is unbeatable. Overall it's a very good buy.. ~kaustav ghoshal

Don't Look Any More - These are the speakers for YOU!,

I spent a lot of time looking and listening to a lot of different speakers in the local electronics stores. I kept going back to look at these online and read the reviews. For the money I thought I can't go wrong, and when I first hooked them up, I thought they did not sound any better than my old speakers--UNTIL I adjusted the sound under the SURROUND MIXER (under advanced tab)- moved all the settings in the middle except for the subwoofer. It made a world of difference. These speakers sound incredible! BIG sound for such a small price. Don't Look Any More - These are the speakers for YOU!

Great Speakers,

I recently bought these speakers after my Logitech Z-640 speaker set decided to burn out on me after one year. I could not be happier with the quality of sound that Creative Labs made through this system. The Bass is very powerful for a low-watt Subwoofer. If you are looking for a great speaker system for a great saving, this is a very nice speaker set.

Really great sound system,

This sound system is all you need inless you want to switch to the digital kind that only needs one wire to be pugged into the sound card instead of 3.
Make sure you have a decent sonund card before you buy any surround sound speakers. I have an 24bit creative sound blaster audigy platinim. the card is a few years old but its still better than any of the intergrated surround sound systems, because most of those are only 16bit sound. Also NOTE if you have a creative sound card to get the newest drivers because cmss makes the sound quality to the maximum possible. Now back to these speakers; they're a good buy, and they're high quality. The only thing I dont like on these speakers is the special sound port to where you code hook a portible device to the system otehr than that this system dominates any other speaker system in and slightly above its price range that isn't creative.

This review is from: Creative Inspire P5800 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System (Personal Computers)
I bought these speakers to replace my old 4Q Sound Image Jr 2.1 speakers. So far, I am very impressed with these. The 4Q speakers had a little higher wattage in the satellites, but it was only a 2.1 system. This 5.1 system is definitely an improvement, overall. The high end isn't quite as crisp as my old speakers, but it is definitely adequate. The bass is awesome! I like the remote feature, and the whole system is attractive looking. I mainly use the speakers on my computer for listening to music. I am very glad that I got these. They really make the SRS effects on WMP10 sound great. They sound awesome on Winamp too. I just have the sound card that came with my motherboard (DFI Lanparty). They could have made the cords a little longer for the surround speakers, but overall, there is VERY little that I can complain about with these. For the money, I couldn't find anything out there that could match the specs and features on the Inspire P5800s. I can crank these up in the computer room, and go out in the living room and enjoy my music. I couldn't do that with my old speakers. Very happy with these so far!
-a little bit later...- Found one complaint: They expose the inadequacies of MP3s @ 128kbps. If you mess with the equalizer a bit, it takes care of it and still sounds excellent. They even sound better with ogg vorbis files! Still love 'em!!!

Wow, glad I chose these!,
By
This review is from: Creative Inspire P5800 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System (Personal Computers)
They are excellent. I am so happy that I chose these speakers. After reading some of the reviews I was expecting that I wouldn't be able to get all of the speakers to work without having a special sound card with the extra ports. But when it came it showed other ways to hook up the speakers with just the 3 ports I had on my motherboard (pink, green & blue) and all of them worked! I did have to play a little with the settings with my sound software though (called Sound Effect by GigaByte). But they sound awesome! I can hear the music playing on the other side of the house!
UPDATE: 6 months after purchasing the sound seems to be messing up. It constantly fluctuates up and down during a song. Not a big jump but it is noticeable. We are thinking it might be the volume controller, but not really sure.

Great Speaker Set,
By
This review is from: Creative Inspire P5800 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System (Personal Computers)
This speaker set is great. The sound quality is excellent. Unless your a super-geek who needs a 500 dollar system to feel good about themselves, you will love this system. The bass is EXTREMELY powerful, and makes for a full sound. The speakers themselves have great sound quality. They also don't look like missile silos (as the Logitech X-530- does).
On the back of the speakers is a place to put a screws head in to hang it, if your interested in that. The controller is great, you can adjust the bass, the overall volume, and even turn the system off. There is also a headphone input for private listening. The only bad part about this system is the cord lengths (but because this doesn't affect the actual performance i don't' care much). You can just go to radio shack and buy a $5 cord extension for this and your set, no biggie.

For the price this system is excellent. My 14 yr. old daughter had no trouble hooking this up to her computer or Zen. Sound Quality is excellent. Surprised that there is so much sound from such a small speaker system.
