5.0 out of 5 stars You can learn creativity from Joe., November 18, 2005

This review is from: Creative Jazz Guitar [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Joe Diorio in an amazing jazz musician and a great teacher. He is a very creative improvisor too. Everyone knows that each and every jazz player improvise for a merely 15% of the time he or she plays lines. Everything that goes under the name of jazz improvisation is something the player has studied before. A jazz musician who improvises for 100% of the time actually, doesn't exist! Neither Trane, Miles or Wes who probably did improvise for the 30% or 50% of their time. Anyway with this video Joe tries to make you a more creative musician, he tries to give you insights on how to play without thinking too much about scales and arpeggios and instead playing more creatively. He gives you insights on jazz harmony, structures, scales, lines, and advices on how to grow as a musician. After you have seen this you'll surely fell more "in charge" and you will have a lot of new stimulus to evolve your musical style and go over your limits. In the end creativity is something that actually can be teached .... and learned! I suggest the purchase of this video and the second video from Scott Henderson (Tribal Tech guitar player) if you want to learn HOW to be creative, HOW you have to think to be creative. Thanxs Joe! Thanxs Scott! I have learned a lot from your videos!
