Great Sound and Functionality, February 17, 2007
This review is from: Creative Labs GigaWorks G550W ProGamer THX-Certified 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System with Wireless Rear Speakers (Personal Computers)
I play games and listen to music, and this is one fine system for doing both. I especially wanted this system for its architecture (wireless surround-sound speakers, powered by an electrical outlet instead of batteries). The surround-sound wireless connection is flawless, and the setup is nice and neat with no cables getting in the way--and of course, the sound quality is superb. The one problem I have, which took me a while to figure out, is not really a problem with this system in itself. I use a Linksys wireless router and network card, which both run at the same frequency (2.4 GHz) as the wireless speaker connection. Turns out when I have the speakers on, my wireless connection to my router gets blocked most of the time. I verified this several times by switching my speakers on and off. So just one thing to consider. Hopefully, I can fix this by playing around with different channels on my wi-fi network.

Incredible Sound and Functionality, WHEN it works, November 5, 2008
This review is from: Creative Labs GigaWorks G550W ProGamer THX-Certified 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System with Wireless Rear Speakers (Personal Computers)
I bought these speakers based on reviews from many different sources. I admit they sound great, amazing actualy. The remote is fabulous and the wireless rear speakers are just what anyone needs for any office or home. The speakers are equally balanced for any type of music and/or PC game. The clarity at any volume level is amazing especialy low volumes which I have never enjoyed from a non-home speaker set. Grant it I did have the speakers coupled with a very high end sound card.
To the point. Like I said these speakers ROCK, WHEN they work. I have purchased and returned this speaker system TWICE. Once through an Amazon vendor, once through another vendor. Like I said they sound amazing so I tried a second time.
Basically the speakers would work when first powered up then they would simply fade out and stop working. When I contacted the original sellers they both said they were aware of this issue with this specific system. I am not going to get bitten a third time. It's a waste of my time having to rebox and return ship them.
A friend of mine has the same system, no problems what so ever. Maybe the sound Gods hate me? Who can say. Like I said I loved them when they worked. You decide.

THIS IS AN JUNK SPEAKER SYSTEM ZERO STARS, June 28, 2008
This review is from: Creative Labs GigaWorks G550W ProGamer THX-Certified 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System with Wireless Rear Speakers (Personal Computers)
THIS IS A 1 STAR * THE 5 WAS A MISTAKE
I am using this system on a Home Theater PC I just built. I couldn't be more pleased with their performance and flexibility. The wireless surround and electronic control of each speaker is flawless. I replaced a cheap Sony 5.1 DVD and I can't even compare the increase in quality and output of this system. One small problem I had that others have reported is you have to keep the control box away from Linksys cable & router boxes. I thought my unit was defective because the speakers would shut off some times. I moved my Linksys cable router to another room and the problem quit. For the price I don't think you could find a better system.
I did have to return them because the control box went out. I plan to try another set though. They are really nice when they work.
I couldn't have designed a more stupid speaker system I tried. This dumb speaker system shuts down every time it get hot or get interference from almost anything. The real kicker is that it has it's own controls and you have to readjust each speaker when you can get it working again. Instead of adjusting your settings with your computer (a novel idea, this is why I bought a computer) this stupid speaker system loses all you adjustment every time it craps out. For $400 you would think they could make speakers that would stay on. Disregard my previous review. I didn't know how bad it was then.
