The screen protector does exactly what it is meant to do. It is a thicker piece of plastic laid over the screen that keeps the screen from getting scratched. The plastic is very durable, as I wasn't able to scratch it when I tried to.

1.0 out of 5 stars Xen X-FI Screen Protector is a Waste of Your Money
Unfortunately, I was dumb enough to order two of these.
I ended up taking a laminated sheet, from a package of sheets (which I bought at staples for a bout $8.00), and cut outting the perfect screen protector for the Zen X-FI. 4.0 out of 5 stars A needed but annoying accessory, December 7, 2008
This review is from: Creative Labs Screen Protector for Zen X-Fi (Electronics)
The screen protector does exactly what it is meant to do. It is a thicker piece of plastic laid over the screen that keeps the screen from getting scratched. The plastic is very durable, as I wasn't able to scratch it when I tried to.

Each protector has a piece of plastic film on each side so you can peel the sticky side off and then apply the protector without getting fingerprints on it. I'm giving this product four stars only because it is a pain-in-the-butt to actually put on the player.

When the first side of the plastic film is removed, there is only a small paper tab which is the only thing you can hold on to while trying to place the thing over the screen. It is nearly impossible to position correctly and if you touch the sticky side at all, your fingerprints will stay there and can't be removed. Also, if anything is floating in the air it will stick to the adhesive, which also shows up. If you mess up and have to peel the thing off the player, you'll get fingerprints on it and it's probably ruined. I wasn't able to get it clearly positioned on the screen until after I had wasted two out of the three protectors. I do have large hands, so that may have something to do with my troubles.

The screen protectors do not blur the video or anything else, granted there aren't any fingerprints on it.

UPDATE

After having my Zen for almost a year, I can say that I am glad I got the screen protector, despite their hassle. I have a TON of scratches all over the front from normal wear and tear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great protector, December 2, 2008
This review is from: Creative Labs Screen Protector for Zen X-Fi (Electronics)
In contrast to the previous review, I have been very grateful for the screen protector. I have had my Zen X-Fi for over 6 months, and I have not had ANY problems with the screen protector. It has definitely kept my Zen from getting scratched up. And, I have not seen ANY blurring on my videos.

As the other reviews state be VERY careful when removing tape from both sides any error will cause a bubble or smudges to show on the display.

These screen protectors are a waste of money. I cleaned the screen and was very careful not to touch the #1 side but there were always bubbles under it. I think these were imperfections in the film. Buy the silicone cover or the leather case buy don't piss away money for these peices of crap.

2.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars minus 3 for the glue, January 19, 2010

It would have been great if they hadn't used gummy glue to attach the little tab to the face of the screen protector. I ended up scratching the protector and the face of the zen in my efforts to remove the persistent glue.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gets the job done, April 6, 2009

The three protectors should keep the screen protected for quite a while. It fits well just over the screen of the player (the plastic around the buttons is still unprotected). I chose this over a case so that it didn't get too big to stick in my pocket. The protector attracts finger prints a bit easier than the regular screen, so I am constantly wiping it off. Make sure when you start to put it down that you have it positioned correctly the first time, if you have to pull any of it back up to reposition, it won't stick when you put it back down.

Directions were difficult to follow. I am not getting the full benefit from this device as I am not "techie" I did state this on the selection site. Not real happy with this device.

4.0 out of 5 stars You might want some rubbing alcohol on hand, June 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Creative Labs Screen Protector for Zen X-Fi (Electronics)
I had a Creative Zen for years, until it seemed as though the battery was going bad. I bring this up because the one thing that always annoyed me was that I didn't buy a screen protector... and a month or so after I bought it, my Zen took a trip, face-down, across the floor, that left the face scratched and blurred.
It didn't stop me from enjoying my MP3 player, but I knew when I bought another, I was going to make sure a screen protector went on it before even music did.

So, after reading various reviews for this product, I ordered a pack along with my new X-Fi.

The backing peeled off beautifully.
The protector went on beautifully, with no air bubbles, and with one attempt.
The ONLY issue I had with it, is that the adhesive for the second tab--the one you use to set it--seems quite strong, and sticky adhesive was left behind on the front of my screen protector.

It came off with the application of a little rubbing alcohol, so no huge deal. But a "lighter" adhesive, that's easier to get off, would be nice.

This might be singular; I don't recall any reviews I read mentioning it, and it was only a minor annoyance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice screen, but gets dusty easily, March 21, 2010

It covers my Zen perfectly. The case gets dusty easily and it's hard to clean, though. Also, the power switch on the back is hard to flip.
