I received this item yesterday. Charged it up. Attached my player and no sound. It helps to turn it on. For little speakers...wow...they sound amazing. Charged fast, easy to use. Haven't had it long enough to confirm 15 hour battery life...so only 4 stars for that. Very pleased with this purchase, especially since I got it for only $26. Will use this out in the yard and in the garage...no more lugging around my old bulky boombox...which will be donated to a worthwhile cause. I highly recommend this for anyone with a Zen X-Fi player.

I bought the Creative Travelsound speaker unit in September 2010 with my X-fi. It uses an internal rechargeable battery, has very poor sound quality, weak highs, minimal bass, asmost as bad as X-fi case speaker but louder. The volume is controlled by the tiny buttons on the x-fi. Aside from being designed to connect directly to the X-fi and being able to charge both connected units with one cable it's not really worth the money. I'd say it's better than nothing, but almost anything has to be better.
I connected the X-fi to the Altec Lansing inMotion speakers (hardly world class sound) for my Sansa player and there was a huge improvement in sound quality. The inMotion uses four AA batteries, also has four drivers, is more than three times the size and much heavier than the Travelsound. The inMotion has a volume control on the speaker unit, no messing with tiny buttons. I'd say avoid the Travelsound, the bad vastly outweighs the good, I just wish Altec made a version for the X-fi so I wouldn't have to use a connecting cable.

Well the first thing I can say about these speakers are for portable speakers they sound great. I've purchased multiple types of other portable speakers in the past, and these are definitely the best sounding speakers I've had. Also the battery life is excellent, and I've never ran out of power while using them for hours. (You also can have them plugged into USB to charge them while they are being used, so if you're using these for connecting to a laptop you can charge them at the same time.)
There are only two cons I can see with these speakers. The first is there is no volume control, only a power on/off switch. This means that you have to use the volume control on the player to control the volume, which isn't the best option if the volume control is only on the touch screen. The 2nd con is more of a mistake on my part, which is I have the Zen X-fi2, not the Zen X-fi. The X-fi2 is a bit larger than the X-fi, so it doesn't fit in the connector slot on the speakers. So if you have the X-fi2 this is not recommended for you. (I decided to keep it anyway because the sound quality really is excellent, and Creative didn't make a set for the X-fi2... So my solution was to use an audio extender cable to connect to the speakers, and with this setup I can also use it with any of my other portable devices.)

Transistor Radio Sound,

This is a complete waste of money. The sound is tinny (sp?) almost like listening to a transistor radio from 1971. You are better off purchasing some aftermarket speakers or aux input cables to hook up to an existing platform with good quality sound. Again, don't waste your dough on this piece of garbage.

I have had this speaker for about a month and a half....
After reading all the reviews i decided to go ahead and try the speaker system. I was 1st concerned that i wasnt going to get the correct one for my X-Fi (many reviewers had that problem) I am pleased to say that i received the correct one the 1st time. I LOVE the portability. I take it everywhere. The sound quality isnt all that great but it suits the purpose. Its not meant to replace a home stereo system. I'm sure if i adjust the equalizer on the X-Fi that i could get it to sound better but having over 5500 songs on it i don't really have time to do that. The battery life is GREAT! I have a habit of leaving it on and it still lasts 2 to 3 days. Overall this is a great little speaker system so far and i hope it lasts for a long time. I am considering buying another for work so i dont have to transport back and forth everyday.

Perfect for Creative Zen,

I got this for my Creative Zen X-Fi. It works better than expected!
Not only can I hear my media clearly - and with great sound for it's size. But it charges my Creative X-Fi while it's docked. It's wonderfully portable and has a relatively good battery life. One additional plus, - it will plays the radio without needing any kind of 'antenna'. For it's size and it's price, - it is excellent.

This little speaker accessory turns your Zen into a clock radio or portable stereo.
I only gave it four stars because the speakers are just good, not great, plus the Zen switch is difficult to access, but for the price and the limitations on the design because it fits the Zen SO WELL, it is a great accessory and TOTALLY worth the price! I bought two...one for travel (it is really light and charges via USB) and one for my bedside table. If you love your Zen like I do, a great accessory!!!

Easy to setup, plug and play all the way. Uses a standard USB connection to charge, then it's time to rock out! I love Creative products, I purchased my first Creative MP3 player 10 years ago, and have never been disappointed. Great stuff, and the Zen Mosaic + TravelSound make a great package. No regrets, quality all the way.
