4.0 out of 5 stars A hidden gem, July 11, 2008
This review is from: Creative Meditation and Multi-Dimensional Consciousness (Quest Book) (Paperback)
This seems to be one of Anagarika Govinda's less well-known books, and in some ways it feels dated compared to the wealth of current writing on Buddhism and meditation. But as someone who has read widely in the Buddhist tradition, I think there are some wonderful insights into the process of meditation that will be very liberating for anyone who feels constrained by instructions, or confused about how to translate this tradition into our average lifestyle here in America. Lama Govinda has a genuine gift for speaking in a way that welcomes creativity within the forms of ritual. May this text serve your hunger for liberation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Favorite Quote, January 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Creative Meditation and Multi-Dimensional Consciousness (Quest Book) (Paperback)
I stumbled across this quote outside of the book: Only he who, while fully reconginzing and understanding his Western heritage, penetrates and absorbs the heritage of the East, can gain the highest values of both worlds and do justice to them. East and West are the two halves of our human consciousness, comparable to the two poles of a magnet, which condition and correspond to each other and cannot be separated. Only if man realizes this fact will he become a complete human being.
