5.0 out of 5 stars The First Book
Creative Mind was the first book Ernest Holmes wrote. It was published in 1919. But by 1998 when I was Editor of Science of Mind magazine this wonderful little book was out of print and almost impossible to find. We reprinted it with a Forward by Catherine Ponder, an author of many inspiring books and a great fan of Ernest Holmes. Creative Mind is one of my favorite books...

1.0 out of 5 stars don't get it
I don't understand why so many people raved about this book. The information in it could have been said in about 5 pages instead of a whole book (or possibly one page if the pages had been full instead of only half full.) Perhaps it should have been double spaced, then one wouldn't feel that one wasted money on a lot of half blank pages. It is very old fashioned, not...

Creative Mind is one of my favorite books because it gave me goosebumps when I first opened it and I knew it touched a deep truth within my soul. The first sentence of the introduction is the hook that draws you into your new and exciting possibilities: "The hand of eternal progress is brushing the cobwebs from the corridors of time and is again revealing to the human race the mysteries of being." I love secrets revealed...and this seemed to be the biggest, best secret of all. I do read Creative Mind again and again and I think you will too. Elaine Maginn sonne, Ph.D., Author of 5 books, including Legends of the Stones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ernest Holmes At His Best in Simple Terminology Great for Beginners, May 29, 2009
By
Ernest Holmes was great a melding the worlds of science, philosophy, and religion. I love Science of Mind, but the text is very rich and written in early 20th Century language and can be hard to understand unless one is a dedicated student. Creative Mind is SOM with training wheels. It gets right down to business and explains God, the Universe and our relation and interconnectedness to ALL things. Great for those new to SOM and new thought. Less intimidating prior to SOM text book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative Mind, January 5, 2010

Creative Mind by Earnest Holmes is the best book I have ever read and will change the way you think about everything. It is a must read for everyone. At only 70 pages, with short chapters, it can easily be read all at once or you can skip around the table of contents and read what you want in no particular order. It is a book to be kept and reread over and over again when you need a reminder on how important your thoughts are to your reality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recognizing The Divine Spiritual Nature of Your Creative Mind, April 30, 2011
Considered by many to be one of the fathers of modern Metaphysics, Ernest Holmes, best known for his seminal text, The Science of Mind, is gaining in popularity with a new generation of mystics and metaphysicians. Creative Mind, originally published in 1919, is a foundational text upon which popular modern Law of Attraction books and films like The Secret and the texts of Esther and Jerry Hicks have been built. Grounded in spirituality, not materialism, Holmes has profoundly impacted thousands of individuals on the path of spiritual evolution, focused on manifesting their own life experiences.

In the beginning, there was Spirit (or God), and all of life as we know it today was created through Spirit. We are spiritual beings, created from Spirit, endowed with the same creative abilities and impulses to manifest our own experiences. How this process works, explains Holmes, is not important. What is important is to understand that the thoughts and feelings about what you want will attract back to you inspiration, experiences, and people who will bring about the physical manifestation of those thoughts.

Holmes encourages everyone to take responsibility for their own lives, to acknowledge and accept that you are part of the one Infinite Mind of God, and understand that we are all dealing with only one power. That power works to attract to us what we think about, both those things we want and the experiences that we do not want. Therefore, he suggests, why give any thought or energy whatsoever to those things we do not want? We are unlimited in our power to create. Yet so many live in fear and suffering because they have forgotten that they are Divine in nature, denying they are part of the one Creative Mind.

Holmes explains that through our own thoughts, we enter into the realm of Universal Consciousness and the realization of truth and love. So many have learned to live their lives based on what others think and expect. This exterior control of life must be transformed through spiritual evolution to a life lived in complete confidence that the Universe will respond with what is truly wanted in life. Therefore, one must guard carefully against allowing negative thoughts or feelings of lack or fear into one's experience, for the Universe has no other choice but to reflect back in physical manifestation those thoughts.

Affirmations are powerful tools in the healing of ourselves and others, according to Holmes. Anyone who wishes to conduct healing treatments must first focus on healing himself. Whether focusing on emotional or physical healing or seeking financial and spiritual prosperity and abundance, one must take the time consider thoughts as seeds, planted in the Divine Mind of universality and left to grow into physical manifestation.

Whereas many modern teachings on the Law of Attraction have focused on materialism, attracting money and possessions, Holmes's teachings are based in spirituality and love, helping others and being kind, and experiencing the prosperity (material and otherwise) as the natural byproduct of living an authentic, Divine life. Creative Mind is truly an inspiring work of modern New Thought and Metaphysics.

It is very old fashioned, not written well, and pretty much has the same information that other better written positive thinking books contain that are much easier to read and understand. This seems to be a person who is wandering in his mind and has said pretty much the same thing on every page, possibly in a little different way. I don't necessarily disagree with the concept, I just don't think this is the book to read if you want to embrace it. I can't believe this book even got published. I bought it because it was the book selected to discuss by a group I thought I might be interested in joining. I have since changed my mind based on their choice of this book. If you are interested, what it says badly in way too many pages is that a man is as he thinks. Thoughts are things and you cause or attract what you want in life by changing your thoughts. Sound familiar?? I would not recommend this to anyone. Much better authors of this subject matter out there.
