5.0 out of 5 stars It seems to work, August 29, 2006
This review is from: Creative Mind System (Audio CD)
I've a creativity-demanding job where I must design and implement artificial neural networks. I was seduced by the idea of improving my brain-wave patterns because I've been studying the inner workings of the brain for more than 3 years due my undergraduate thesis about Computational Neuroscience. I agree that the brain mimics all the types of waves that come from reality: light waves, sounds, propioception, body cycles, etc. We live 2 realities: the real reality and the virtual reality created by our brains. I believe that a specific and proved pattern of sounds can synchronize the firings of our neurons and can even fix some malformed brain-wave patterns.

The music is cool to hear over and over again - the treatment demands it. I think it has made me more creative because I've solved many mathematical problems in my work since I started to use it.

But don't transform the tracks into MP3 files because the MP3 format removes the inaudible waves in the ranges (0,20) and (20000,44000] Hz that the CD format has. Those inaudible waves are supposed to do most of the work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite for Painting, December 12, 2005
This review is from: Creative Mind System (Audio CD)
As both a professional artist and teacher of painting, this CD is extremely useful. I use it in my classes as lovely background music and students always ask me about it. I can play it every week and it never sounds the same. One week I did a sumi-e demonstration and students thought it sounded Asian.
In my own work, it is uplifting and non-intrusive, helping me get into the creative "zone" when I paint. The music is reminiscent of George Winston at times. The brainwave sound frequencies are inaudible, but they definitely work. This is my FAVORITE Dr. Jeffrey Thompson CD and a treasured ally in my creative journey.

4.0 out of 5 stars Creatively sleepy, January 12, 2006
This review is from: Creative Mind System (Audio CD)
I would rate myself as a fairly creative person ... I took Art, Phography and Psychology classes back in college. After reading the first review, I was tempted to find out whether this cd would have a noticeable impact on my creativity. My first reaction after a few minutes of listening to this CD from a CD player was...goodness, I am sleepy. Then I played it in the car while my friend was driving us somewhere during the day ... and we both yawned after a few minutes. Now I am listening to it with my PC and yes...I am getting sleepy. I bought this CD hoping it would help me with concentration and creativity at work (as claimed that it was working in some fortune 500 companies), but it does not quite measure up to it. However, I give it a 4 star for being innovative and pleasant. But I would keep it for bed time background white noise instead of waiting for my brain to be filled with creative burst during the day.

5.0 out of 5 stars A modern day Mozart, November 13, 2006
This review is from: Creative Mind System (Audio CD)
I have studied piano since I was six and do some composing myself.
Dr. Thompson is an innovative in his time as Mozart was in the 1800s.
They say Mozart music balances the brain beautifully. Well this will
do it as well....with a bunch of built-in scientifically balanced
systems that simply guarantee the right mode for what you plan to do.
Apparently these pieces concentrate on the Theta waves...the ones that
we normally have during the deep dream state....where our visions are
so brilliant....but now you can have that while awake! The music is
simply beautiful...even if it didn't do so much for your creativity.
This is a Win/Win composition. Enjoy it. You'll never regret purchasing
such a symphony of the heart/mind/soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creation Is Always Happening, April 26, 2007
By
This review is from: Creative Mind System (Audio CD)
Sometimes, I have these...well, for lack of a better term, "slumps" where I don't feel very creative. I stop writing, I'll put down the paint brush, I'll leave the sketch pad untouched and I start thinking to myself, "Will I ever be creative again?"

For all of you people who have thought and felt the same way, let me give you some encouraging news, creation is always happening and you my friend, are an inlet as well as an outlet to all that there is in Spirit. What do you think the word, "inspired" means? It literally means to be "in the spirit" and whenever we are inspired and desire to create something whether it be a painting or a poem or a better relationship, we are doing what we were born to do.

But when I get into those "slumps", I pull out this CD, put on the headphones and just allow myself to consciously and deliberately focus my attention on what I desire to bring forth. The music calms me instantly while dissolving the blocks that I unconsciously created out of fear and I just allow myself to return to that place/that space of Eternal Grace and know that even in this new now moment something is waiting to break forth through me.

Let us all remember that no one can limit us but ourselves, that creativity is not something some are born with and others aren't, but we are all creative in our own wonderful and unique ways, that being inspired is just a breath away and that by meditating and praying to this CD, one can go deeper and tap into that Infinite Stream that is "closer to us than breathing, nearer than hands or feet..."

Peace & Blessings,
john "the Light Coach"

4.0 out of 5 stars This Might Actually Work, April 29, 2006
This review is from: Creative Mind System (Audio CD)
I just listened to this CD yesterday for the frist time while doing some writing on my laptop. My first impression was that it was just garden-variety new age music, but I did notice that I had a higher-than-average level of concentration while writing. But here's the kicker: last night I had an incredibly vivid dream full of Jungian symbols and I think this CD might have had something to do with it. I'm going to keep on listening and maybe buy a few of the others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works in Your Sleep, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Creative Mind System (Audio CD)
If you are like me, most days you just cannot find the time to sit and meditate to a CD such as this one. The good news about "Creative Mind System" is that it works in your sleep!

For many years I have listened to "white noise" or nature sounds while falling asleep. Since procuring the Creative Mind CD, I have employed it often, at bedtime, in place of my usual sound machine. The results have been noticeable, if you are one who believes in the power of dreams.

Like many people, there are some mornings I awaken with no memory of my dreams (even though, as an educated person, I am well aware of the sleep cycle). The morning after falling asleep to this CD, not only am I immediately flooded with dream recollections, but they are consistently more vivid and connected reconstructions.

Beyond the initial dream recall, I have experienced insights during the ensuing day which appear to link my waking thoughts and ideas to images from my dreams. Probably most individuals have been engaged in their day-to-day activities only to suddenly have a flash glimpse of the previous night's dream. The difference, in the case of having listened to Creative Mind the night before, is that the connection between the current activity and the dream glimpse seems immediately apparent.

Every person is different, and I am not an expert in the realm of sleep/dream study. However, I have spent a good portion of my life personally researching the science of sleep, the effects of abnormal sleep patterns on learning styles and the possible cultivation of lucid dreaming.

The bottom line is that if you have an interest in how your dreams manifest in your waking life, the experimental value is well worth the cost of the CD.

I would give the product five stars but for my concern relative to individual results.

4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoy this., May 22, 2006
This review is from: Creative Mind System (Audio CD)
I have both The Creative Mind System, and Creative Mind System 2.0 - I enjoy both of them and listen regularly. I could be walking outside, and it's playing on my MP3 player, or I'm working [taking photographs] or editing them. I also lay back, close my eyes and listen at times. I'm always on the look out for others like this. There are certain very uplifting parts, in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clears the mind and helps me solves problems, January 3, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Creative Mind System (Audio CD)
When I'm feeling stuck in debugging some computer code, I put this CD in my computer. Before I really am aware, I feel more relaxed and clear minded and have solved my problem. I don't know what Dr. Thompson's CD actually do, all I know is it works!

I own quite a few of Jeffrey Thompson's CDs and I am a big fan. All of his music makes meditation easy. Having said that, this review is more for the tracks listed by Amazon rather than the product itself.

There are two flavors of the Creative Mind System - one is a single disc and the other a 2CD set. That in itself is confusing enough, and they both have the same album art? The single CD set has two tracks - Inspiration & Vision, while the 2CD set has two tracks as well, but one on each CD - Expression and Inspiration.

I was under the impression that I was getting the tracks from the 2CD Set (Note what the listing says Creative Mind System). What I downloaded was the tracks from the single CD. To top it all, the tracks are corrupt as well. Note that I have not had a problem with any of the other tracks that I have downloaded so far.

I'm sure that this was a case of simple oversight by Amazon's tech guys. I'm now waiting to see how Amazon is going to resolve it. I have already written to them about the mix up.
