I recently purchased all the CND Shellac products and love them.

Great product, realistically manicure only lasts 1 1/2 weeks but is still good since a regular manicure lasts 3 days.
Kendra
Cure it for a few minutes then wipe with pure acetone and cotton ball and you are done!

Shellac is a UV light cured gel polish that lasts about two weeks. I have used OPI's Axxium gel polish and it destroyed my nails. I now use Shellac. This base coat goes on easily and cures quickly under the UV lamp. One item of mention is that to remove you need to use an acetone nail "wrap" for about 20 min to get the polish to come off easily. I make my own "wraps" by soaking cotton balls with acetone, placing the ball on my nail and covering with a 4 inch square of aluminum foil. Wait 20 minutes and the polish peels off like magic with no nail damage. Although this system takes more time compared to regular polish, it is long wearing under harsh conditions. The only reason you can't get more than two weeks out of a single coat of polish is because your nails will grow out.

I recently purchased all the CND Shellac products and love them. The only problem I have is with the curing light. I purchased an Ibd 1000 light here on Amazon and it will NOT cure this brand. I followed the directions perfectly, and still it didn't work. After reading around on the web, I discovered the best light to use is the CND one. Otherwise, the CND Shellac products are wonderful - very easy to use. The polish is a different consistency from regular polish and goes on evenly and smoothly. I love this new product from CND, and yes, it really does last two weeks if you apply and cure it the way CND suggests.

I first tried the Shellac at a salon as I didn't want to invest a lot of money without knowing that it would actually work. Well it does! The polish lasts up to two weeks without chipping as long as you get a good seal on the tips (just brush a little polish on the front edge of your nail tip.) I watched the nail tech carefully and asked lot of questions - how long does each coat have to cure, why are you brushing polish on the front edge of the nail, what are you using to wipe off the nail now that the top is on, etc. (you have to wipe the nail off with a cotton pad soaked in alcohol to get the tackiness off after the last coat). The nail tech didn't use the wraps to remove the Shellac though. She soaked my nails in acetone and it took her forever to get them off. I decided to buy the wraps and am so glad I did. The salon tech also warned me not to use any kind of nail file on the nails after they've been finished because it will break the seal - I forgot, used a nail file and sure enough two days later the polish peeled right off that nail. If you're not sure about any step of the process, go to the CND website and watch their instructional video - I learned as much from that as I did from the nail tech. I can now have salon perfect nails without paying the high price. Well worth the investment.

It helps if you apply a light coat of bonder on the nail bed. Then apply the Shellac base coat and cure. Then the colour coat and cure. The the top coat and cure...turns out perfect every time! After finishing the top coat, you'll notice a slightly tacky finish on your nails. Take a lint free pad and soak it with 91% alcohol and rub it off. Voila! Perfection!

I purchased the CND Shellac system to use at home, since I am a penny pincher and can't stand to pay $30 for a manicure. For an initial investment of about $90 I will be able to do 15-20 manicures.

The base coat goes on nice- thin and smooth. You use a 36 watt UV lamp to "cure" the polish between each of the coats. I didn't purchase the CND lamp. For about $25 I bought one from ebay. It works great. I think any lamp would work, just make sure it's 36 watt.

The Shellac polish is long wearing and durable as stated.

Love this line! I ordered the base coat and top coat and UV 36W dryer. I use my regular nail polish colors so I don't have to start my collection all over again. After putting the top coat on and drying it is very sticky, but just wipe with an alcohol swap and it's perfect! The only thing, you have to be super careful when applying. Be very neat along the cuticle because if there is a ledge of polish it will lift after it dries.

My daughter is a cosmetologist so I received my first taste of the shellac system at her salon. Now we do own own at home for a fraction of the price! It's a great system that even novice nail painters can learn!
