Great sized bag for carrying craft projects, December 30, 2008
This review is from: Creative Options 700-301 Soft-Sided Ultra-Suede Total Tote, Medium, French Blue with Multi-Dot Lining (Kitchen)
Short summary:
* Size - Great size: would fit several skeins of yarn, A5 notepad (not A4). To give a comparison, it would likely fit a bowling ball, a toaster, or two pairs of sneakers, but not a laptop or your average scrapbook.
* External appearance - Slightly more vivid blue than the picture suggests, but not too bright. Small plastic logo on the front (not shown in the picture) detracts a little. The material is a very nice soft faux-suede. 4 metal studs on the bottom protect the base. Sturdy padded handles.
* Interior - Lining material is nylon, would wipe clean. 2 sections - large main with removable divider, and smaller front section for quick access. Multiple pouches and pockets in various sizes and styles (2 zippered, inc. one removable). 2 sets of elastic rows for tucking objects into.
Overall I am very happy with this bag so far. It fits everything I need for an embroidery project or two. It can keep all my tools separate and secure so I will always know where to find things without any rummaging around. There is a great variety of different pouches and pockets, allowing endless options for versatility. It looks very classy, I just need to get rid of the plastic logo somehow.
My only complaints:
1 - For my purposes, the elastic strips aren't all that useful.
2 - On the front of the bag there is a small plastic logo for Creative Options attached, which looks cheap to me.
3 - A few minor imperfections e.g. loose thread, part of handle not fused/sewn properly. Nothing major, no `dealbreakers'.
Detailed description:
The spacious main section can be fully opened from both sides using zips which reach the full height of the tote. The divider can be easily removed as it is held in place by velcro. When removed, the velcro strips inside are the soft side, so it will not catch on to your yarn, floss, fabric etc.
I pushed my divider to the back of the main section to act as another wall and still be able to use the pockets attached to it for my hoops. It does not fit perfectly this way, but it stays in place and allows me to fit my box of floss bobbins into the bag. This box is quite large (L=27cm W=18cm H=4.5cm) but I can still zip all the way (just).
Inside the main section there are 2 small pockets with elasticated edges (lining material) on each side (4 total). The flaps which you unzip to open the bag also have pouches - one has 2 medium sized pockets with elasticated edges (lining material). The other side you can see in the picture: it has a good sized zip-up plastic pouch attached using poppers, so it can be taken out easily. This is durable and very handy with endless possibilities (loose bobbins, ribbon, scissors, small transfers...).
The divider itself has 2 medium sized mesh pouches on one side, and on the other side a row of thick elastic separated in 4 adjustable sections (making one loop bigger makes the others tighter). You could tuck various objects into these loops, from pens to a bottle of glue or tubes of paint. I would say these are too small for skeins of yarn, and not suitable for skeins of floss either.
The smaller front compartment does not open all the way, so it's good for small, loose items. It has a large (just over A5 sized) zippered mesh pouch on one side- not detachable. On the inside of the flap itself is a double row of elastic sewn into 7 vertical sections. The elastic is thick but has a lot of stretch. It is the perfect height for holding pencils and pens (I have my transfer pens in it now), and could also hold glue sticks, crochet hooks etc. Again, I wouldn't put floss in these. This second section is best for quick access items, but it probably can't handle too many bulky objects.

Durable bag looks great too, August 25, 2009

I've had this bag for two years, use it all the time for dog grooming equipement. Goes to shows with me, daily use at home etc. This has not shown any wear, well made, easy to organize looks great too. Several of my friends have had the same bag for the same purpose even longer than I have and they still look brand new. Good value!
