About the Author

Terri Stegmiller is the assistant publisher of the online magazine Fibre & Stitch, and her work has also been published in Haute Handbags Vol. 2 (Stampington, April 2007) and 1,000 Artist Trading Cards: Innovative and Inspired Mixed Media ATCs (Quarry, 2007).

More About the Author

I have been creating art of various types for as long as I can remember. Mixed media has really captured my attention and the journey it has taken me on is thrilling, to say the least.

My current work focuses on texture and color. I find that I'm drawn to creating female faces and flowers. I also enjoy cats and love to portray them in my work as well.

I live in North Dakota USA, with my husband. I love flower gardening and also enjoy reading. I have no formal art education. My education is through my experience. I love the challenge of learning a new technique or process and making it work for my needs.

I hesitated for many months over buying this book due to one thing...the cover art. The cover art display three images, and all seemed sorta "cutesy" in my eyes (which is not my style). I eventually bought it and I'm glad I did as it does contain more artistic and "non-cutesy" works of paper art by other artists. If even one of those had been shown on the cover, I would have bought this book sooner.

The general directions are good, the book is in full color, and there are some step by step directions for projects with some patterns. I don't like to make art that others have made, so I don't do projects or follow directions so can't tell you anything about the projects. I did get ideas and inspiration, which is what I look for most.

My biggest complaint, after the cover art, is the quality of the paper on the cover...mine has yellowed in less than a year.

I was curious to know more about combining paper crafts and applique/quilting, and this book was only about $7.00 so decided to explore. The projects, however, are downright ugly and I just threw the book away. If you don't love the cover picture, don't expect anything more appealing.
