More About the Author

From finger paint to pastels to photography, playing with lots of different mediums, Teresa has enjoyed making art for as long as she can remember. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, she continued exploring a variety of mediums in anticipation of one-day realizing who she is. Laying eyes on a rainbow filled wall of seed beads in a craft store over 20 years ago the stage was set for that "Eureka!" moment. The more she played with seed beads the more her authenticity emerged though her work. Eureka! Beads are truly at the heart of her jewelry designs!

With each new piece both heart and art opened up to more possibilities. Most contented in her studio, Teresa loves finding new ways to use seed beads to communicate her ideas. In recent years, she has incorporated bead weaving with fine wire to create jewelry with a distinctive and graceful look.

Internationally known, Teresa teaches her unique designs nationally and locally. She has contributed to Bead Unique and Beadwork magazines. She was honored to have her work featured along with a personal interview in Perlen Poesie magazine - Issue #6. Teresa's first book was published in May 2013, titled, "Creative Seed Bead Connections: Using Wire, Jump Rings, and Chain". She lives in the beautiful Rocky Mountain foothills with her husband of over 25 years, Jason and their two beloved greyhounds, Bob and Ray.

I have bought and read a ton of jewelry books. Mostly just to see what other people do and see if there are a few tricks that I can gleam and apply to my own work. RARELY have I ever wanted to make a project from a book like this, I am normally only interested in a few techniques. Not this time... This book is so fun and the projects are GORGEOUS! I want to make it all.. Even her color selections are wonderful.

Sometimes when I make large beaded pieces.. Or at least try... I get board to tears before I ever finish them. But this technique is so fresh and different. You get to make these adorable tiny beaded pieces then join them all together in a simple and fun way. So you get that cool sense of completion like 20 times during the creation instead of just winding down into boredom.

I would totally recommend this book for anyone interested in beading and wire work.. And anyone with ADD... <3

I received this book today, and it is fabulous! I'm very happy with the projects offered, which go from easy to more difficult and I like every project in the book. I know, I was very pleasantly surprised. I like the use of the various seed bead sizes together, the patterns, and how Teresa uses jumprings and chains as part of the connector design. The projects are tasteful and elegant, and the instructions are very good. A beginner will likely find the projects challenging, but this is a great book to work through.
My few favorite projects so far are "Rhythm and Blue Pearl" set beginning on page 24, "Cosmic Chorus" set beginning on page 96, and "Wild Tile" set beginning on page 35. However, literally every design project in the book is one I want to make.
This book is a welcomed addition to my beading library. Happy beading!

I love, love, LOVE this book! The designs are unique, modern, and stylish. Directions are clear and easy to understand and follow. I plan on making several of the necklaces, earrings, and bracelets in this book. Lots of color photographs to help with making designs, plus to give various angles of a piece. I'd buy again in a heartbeat. Great book.

The wonder of beads and drops and chains is that there are a myriad of styles. There is sleek, cheerful, dainty, and daring, to name a few. And I would suggest you take a close look at the necklace and beadwork on the front cover of CREATIVE SEED BEAD to decide whether this book is for you. If the necklace and style appeals to you, then definitely check out this book. For the examples given are in the same vein.

The book starts out with descriptions of materials. There's definitions and pictures, for example, of everything from what a seed bead is, to drops, pearls, Czech glass, spacers, jump rings and more. The author also talks about wire (shape, temper, gauge...) and beadweaving tools (scissors, needles, threadburners, scoops, pliers...); as well as beadweaving techniques.

Since I'm a novice I found all of this information useful. And I particularly loved that the images are clear and are arranged to show the sequence of various processes.

Really this book is above my present skill level. (Way above :) But I'm reading the book to learn techniques and to help with my visualization of how to pull together my simpler designs.

I chose this book because the Teresa Meister's jewelry style appeals to me, And I think learning from someone whose color choices and compositions 'grab me' makes more sense than reading a book by someone else who is into different palette choices.

Enjoy. This is a well done book. Photos are excellent, bright and clear. Instructions are good.

I do some wire working, but I must say I enjoy beadweaving best. I have been happily satisfied with needle and thread, occasionally doing other types of projects; my wire working can best be described as precise, but serviceable. This is the first book I have seen where the wire work and the beadweaving compliment each other. The integrated techniques make the finished project a lovely whole. As one who usually plays with size 15 and 11 seed beads, the use of 8s to accommodate the metal rings is a nice change. The instructions are very easy to follow, and the illustrations clear. Thank you, Ms Meister, for giving me a new perspective on beading!

Great creative uses of beads and findings. I highly recommend this book for any beader's library. The projects will challenge both the beginner and a more advanced beader.
